Well I guess it happens to everyone at some point. This month has been something out of a nightmare and it finally got the best of me. It was my first losing month since I started taking this game semi seriously back last June. Not only was it my only losing month, but it was bigger than almost all of my winning months. I lost $1,783.05 this month leaving my bankroll at $284.42.

I remember making my first and only depoist back last June. It was for $200 and since then I have probably taken out over $3000 in winnings to give to the wife (I had an agreement with her that I would give her half of everything I win - it ended up being more than that as I am sure you could expect).

It has been good to me, poker that is, but I don't know if I have the patience I did 11 months ago to grind it out at the low limits to try and get my feet back under me.

Not sure where to go from here. Hoping the BTP community can shed some light on this otherwise very very dark situation.

Man, really sorry to hear that. I was just sitting here feeling sorry for myself about having an awful month where I am basically break even after playing almost 60 hours. Obviously your news puts it in perspective.

I would suggest you take a break for at least a week, or whatever it takes until you start feeling like it would be *fun* to play again. Don't try to win it back in one go. Remember that you way ahead in the long run and that every hand starts out break even.

Analysis of your play and being honest of where you were at fault vs. what was bad luck. Then decide if you want to coninue and bonus whore.

Sorry to hear Twelver, always sucks to hear a fellow BTPer in a bad spot. Just a couple thoughts for you. I am guessing there was some tilt and lack of mental control that lead to this. On a bankroll that you cant easily replace you really need to drop levels when you hit a losing streak. At $1000 you really need to drop to $50 to not put your BR in jeopardy. I think you know this already and I am by no means trying to rub it in, but is important to see what we did wrong because if you choose to keep playing you will be in that situation again at some point.

So what to do from here?? Any way you can reload? If not you are pretty much stuck playing $10 with only $300 or so in the roll. I think you really need to take some time off and clear your head. I have done it several times in the past when I have been running bad and it has really helped.

Bad news man... must of been some serious tilt / off game balance happeneing. Deffinatly take some time out so you can approach the game fresh. And after playing 100s for months Im sure you dont wanna start grinding again too low so maybe load in $1k and start from the 50's.

Also, giving your wife more than 50% profits!? OUCH! That must hurt! I put a hell of a lot of time and effort into poker (as most of us do), not just playing but studying also. I need to reward myself sometimes with a cashout, then It feels nice putting in all the hours and having something to show for it, as well as a growing br.

If you give your wife over 50% then your br is growing at a slow pace and you dont even get any reward from it, if you DO spend some on you aswell then your br is growing at a tiny rate and you have only spent a little bit on yourself. I would basically never give my wife 50% of profits (its up to you obv) but 25% should keep um happy when your playing the 100s+
