2 things.

1. once BB raises....the stack sizes dictate that he's going to call your all in. you'd have more fold equity with a checkraise all in on the turn. and you see a free card when he checks behind.

2. you will rarely have fold equity at shorthanded $50NL

I think you played it great right up until the push. Unless you thought from a read that you had some fold equity. Although with his 15.65 behind, you probably didn't have much chance that he'd fold.

If you put him on something like 2 pair...maybe 89...then you have about a 32% chance that the river gives you the hand. Even against a set of fours you're about 30%. Since he's short, if you just call $7 on the turn you probably have a shot at getting his money in the pot on the river if you hit.

There is $16.50 in the pot. If you call for $7 you're getting about 2.3 to 1 on your money. You're about a 2-1 dog to most hands he has. So you're getting the odds to call, and then push on the river if you hit, especially your straight. And even a flush is going to be tough for him to read, given how you played it, so your implied odds are pretty solid.
