I hear it all the time......."You'll only get called by something that beats you"
I got that advice just yesterday here more than once. Its true sometimes, but playing TAG is all about pounding people with bets, overbets, check raises...anything to get money into the pot with strong hands. Sometimes big bets make them want to call out of spite, sometimes they just dont want to be caught folding the best hand and being shown a bluff, sometimes they just HAVE to see what you have and sometimes they are just bad players. Regardless of the reason, I get called all the time by hands that dont beat me and if I posted all thoe hands, I would hear......"you'll only get called by a hand that beats you"
Here are 2 examples. There are lots, but these are 2 from today. I could post these hands and wait for someone to say "IT" and that would add dramatic effect when I reveal the hands, but Im not going to do that. Even though you'll see results in advance, just think about these hands when youre at the table in similar circumstances.
#1) Its folded to me in the SB. I raise to $8 with [Jd]. BB ($65) calls.
Pot $16. Flop [4d][5d]. I bet $12 and he calls.
Pot $40. Turn . He has $47 left and I put him all in. He calls with TT.
#2) UTG+1 ($175) raises to $8. I call in the BB with 55.
Pot $17 Flop [6s][5s]. I check, he bets $6. I check raise to $30. He calls.
Pot $77. Turn . He has $136 left. I push all in. He calls with [8c]
