Setting:
Party poker $25 table. I just sat down a couple of hands ago. I got stats on several players, table looks suitably fishy.
My mood:
Well the only reason I am playing instead of lying snuggled up and sleeping next to my girlfriend is because I have a stomach ache, so I am quite tired and a bit annoyed. I've played 4 hours prior to this so it is my 3:d session, I am down just about one buyin from the earlier sessions.
The hand:
Party Poker
Pot Limit Omaha Ring game
Blinds: $0.10/$0.25
8 players
Stack sizes:
UTG: $7.20
UTG+1: $53.56
MP1: $15.72
MP2: $25
Hero: $24
Button: $24.65
SB: $7.25
BB: $22.40
Pre-flop: (8 players) Hero is CO with
UTG (poster) checks, UTG+1 calls, MP1 raises to $0.5, MP2 raises to $0.5, Hero raises to $3.6, 5 folds, MP1 calls, MP2 raises to $15, Hero raises all-in $20.4, MP1 calls all-in $12.12, MP2 calls.
Now to the rationalisation...
1. My hand is really freaking good. If they have AA/KK like I hope I'm in great shape. "Great" meaning it is +EV, obviously not bu a crazy-huge margin. This is important.
2. I really want an action gambler image. Hell, who am I kidding, I'm weak/tight in Hold'em but Omaha brings out the beast in me. I love raising and putting the pressure on opponents (and building big pots).
3. If I score I'll have a huge stack from the get go. I play much better with a big stack and an action image. I imagine my stack being a huge sponge/amoeba that just sucks in other peoples stacks and absorbs them.
4. I'm thinking that a lot of people don't know how good my hand does against AA and will think "OMG what a fish he put his whole stack in with Q high preflop".
5. Post-flop I won't know where I am at if I just flat call this stupid mini-raise and mini-re-rasise
6. Miniraisers are the scum of the earth and should be nefariously sucked out on.
7. I got like at least 60+ buyins, I can stand the variance.
8. Lots of other good reasons.
