WOOHOO!!!!!    My recent bad luck on UB has (...praying...) seemed to turn.. Registered for GC yesterday, won about a hundred bucks, and hit it pretty big (for me) w/ this hand...

> happyface posted small blind ($1)
> cjajba posted big blind ($2)
> Game # 281,848,345 starting.
> Dealing Hole Cards
> joeXXX folded
> heavensIRL called for $2
> pj755 folded
> MactanTRS folded
> MVPSPORTS called for $2 w/ [5h] [6h]
> -G- folded
> SANTO folded
> happyface called for $1
> cjajba checked
> Dealing the Flop( [Kc] [3d] [4s]
> happyface checked
> cjajba checked
> heavensIRL bet for $6
> MVPSPORTS called for $6
> happyface called for $6
> cjajba folded
> Dealing the turn( [2h]
> happyface bet for $2
> heavensIRL raised for $10
> MVPSPORTS raised for $18
> happyface raised for $48
> heavensIRL folded
> MVPSPORTS raised for $118
> happyface went all-in for $146.05
> MVPSPORTS went all-in for $56
> Extra chips returned to happyface, $4.05
> Dealing the river( [9h]
> MVPSPORTS wins $417 with a Straight, Six high

He had A5... Obviously, this wasn't a good call for him cause he lost all of his money, but would you all have put me all-in...? I've lost a couple big hands where I had the lower end of a straight, and am kind of gunshy about it... I'll push hard w/ an inside straight (ie... J9 w/ 810Q flop) or the upper end, but I really think I would've folded if I was him when I reraised $118... What could he have possibly thought I was betting w? There wasn't a flush draw... there was an obvious straight draw on the table... Maybe I'm being shortsighted cause I won, but I can't justify his call... Any thoughts would be appreciated...

Thanks.... MVP

Kenny is right on here, you have two options you can either just call and hope to draw more players in behind you. Thought with this small a pot and only one player behind you that is probably not your best choice. If your opponant has a good enough hand to call your $10 raise, than he is probably going to call your $20 or $25 raise. You got lucky here that the player behind you reraised and did a lot or the raising for you.

To address your original question. I really dont fault your opponant here, for his play after the turn, there is only one hand in the deck that can beat him, and you just happened to have it. Thought I may have just called and not reraised with it, but more often than not I'm goigng to go broke with the 2nd best straight here.

I guess I came down hard on this guy because I've been screwed by that hand so many times... I used to lose all my money all the time pushing the low end when someone had the high... Can't blame him though... As for the min raise, I normally wouldn't, but I just had one of those poker intuition esp deals that told me he was DEFINITELY going to reraise, and that was my best shot of getting him allin... I don't know if youre supposed to go w/ your feelings, and there was a chance I was killing my money making opportunity, but I just had a feeling that if I pushed hard initially, he either would've called or folded (probably called knowing what he had now...). He was playing real aggressive, and was just putting off the vibe that if he had the "best" hand, he was gonna make me pay for it, and so I pushed a little and let him fall into it himself... Then again, maybe I'm just talking crap and lucked out... either way I'll take it, and will take your advice under serious consideration Kenny and Rhound... Thanks...

MVP if you thought that the player behind you was going to raise, than why raise at all. By min raising and then having the player behind you reraise you lower the chances that the original bettor is going to call.
