I really think what happened here was the the guy didn't believe for a second that I flopped trips because it seems to be an unwritten rule that YOU DON'T PLAY A BIG FLOP FAST. So he thought I had a 7 of some stripe in my hand and he was going to nail me. By the time the 7 hit on the river, who knows what the hell he was thinking because I confused the hell out of him with the 3-bet and the continued aggression. Obviously, he didn't know what the hell to think, only that he was going to hang onto that KK for dear life.

He was a particularly tight player -- 12% VPIP in about 100 hands that I'd been at the table with him and didn't seem to have much problem folding trouble hands. A check-raise on the flop might have scared him away, whereas he didn't believe me when I led out because you just don't do that. A check-raise would have told him I had a 6.

Wow way to draw out there dude. Button played it pretty passively should've capped the flop for sure. But yeah, I support the don't slowplay mode either, and it works at much higher levels.

Limit Holdem Ring game
Limit: $5/$10

Stack sizes:
UTG: $407
UTG+1: $722
MP1: $443
MP2: $137
CO: $260
Button: $294.50
SB: $90
thegolden1: $355

Pre-flop: (8 players) thegolden1 is BB with [3h] [Kc]
UTG calls, 5 folds, SB calls, thegolden1 checks.

Flop: [3s] [Js] [3c] (3SB, 3 players)
SB checks, thegolden1 bets, UTG raises, SB folds, thegolden1 calls.

Turn: [4d] (3.5BB, 2 players)
thegolden1 checks, UTG bets, thegolden1 raises, UTG 3-bets, thegolden1 calls.

River: [7d] (9.5BB, 2 players)
thegolden1 checks, UTG bets, thegolden1 calls.

Results:
Final pot: 11.5BB
thegolden1 showed 3h Kc
UTG showed Jd Ah

You would've thought the turn checkraise even would've told him I had the trips, but I think because of the flop lead he put me on a weak jack. I would've capped, but after the checkraise and flopraise I figured him at least for A3s if not JJ or 44. Moral of the story kids, if you're gonna play AJo from first position you should raise it, would've saved this dude a lot of money.

I agree, Golden. No need to put on the brakes. Play it for everything you have. I would only slow down into check-call mode if a possible flush or straight hits the turn or river and it perks him up.

I've been playing a good bit of 10/20 & 15/30 lately and find people leading out with trips a lot for this very reason. However people like to check raise flops with pretty weak holdings as sort of a counter to continuation bets. So lately I've liked check raising huge holdings on the flop, trying to get my opponent to think I'm just playing back at them.

About the hand in the OP, I'd still play it very hard, happily going for a cap on the turn, but not more than 2 on the river if the other guy kept pushing. The preflop action would be helpful in determining how many bets. If he called in a multiway pot from the BB I'm much more worried than I would be if he open raised EP or 3 bet someone else.
