Anyone finish this book yet?
Curious to see what people think so far. I'm still reading but so far I really like.
Alot a very solid concepts, some I haven't seen in print before. A little dry and too much math as usual but so far I think its a must own for any serious cash game player looking to improve his game.
While its not a cash game specific book there are probably better tournament specific books out there.
This book does not try to teach how to play what hands from which position etc, etc... but instead tries to teach how to "think" poker and stresses the idea that because NL is extremely situtational, you need to be thinking about X,Y,& Z.

Just buy it, if you don't dig it.....Ebay.

i will say this... there is plenty of information in the book that is very context-specific (and they often make appropriate caveats), and i imagine that it will lead a lot of people to MISAPPLY the principles while thinking they are making good plays. nlhe games are going to be good for A LONG time.

They say you should raise small with AK and raise big (if you're going to raise) with medium pairs. The idea is that if you flop a set with your medium pair you want to get a full stack from somebody who catches TPTK or whatever. But almost no matter what you catch with AK you don't want to play a big pot. Now sure, to some extent, that makes sense. But if you raise small with AK you're going to get a bunch of callers and be playing a bunch of small pots against many players without a hand. Ugh

I've been playing this way for a long time esp in EP or MP with AK - I want Ax players to call me when I dominate them - the pairs are calling anyway and will hurt me worse if they hit and I overbulld the pot pre-flop. Also CB's work better when the pot is smaller IMHO. The other way to play is getting into re-raising wars pre-flop with AK repping AA or KK but that is really only a strategy when you have position on lose raisers..
