I live in a place where draw poker players are the vast majority. They usually think that hold’em is a poor form of poker since they only know the “move-in” show that is broadcast on TV. Its a common practice among them to play a 5card stud hand every round and they think that HE is easy compared to 5CS since their draws are twice as effective.
There are also some young players, who played online before, and adopted an extreme “long-ball” style.
I will promote the city’s first HE tournament and I need to find a way to force the younger ones to see some flops and atract the old guys money. I estimate ~80 entrants.
The obvious solution would be using a pot-limit rule but I’m worried about the duration of the torney. I’m thinking about using the pot-limit rule only at the first 5 stages and after that, NL but 6-handed. I also need to allow re-buys since the kids are short of money and the older ones would like to re-buy every 45 minutes, I think.
Any ideas ?
