I'm curious about opinions on whether I'm missing out on better earning potential by only playing limit games. I've been playing exclusively on the internet for a year now and have worked my way up to the 5/10 6-max tables. I usually play two tables at a time. I've read several books on limit play that have helped me quite a bit.

What I'm wondering is if I should be playing NL instead. The problem I have is that I tend to play weak/tight, which really hurts me when I have tried to play the NL game. Any thoughts or advice?

play when/where you have an edge. If limit is your strong game than run it. If you want to try to learn no limit that's fine but limit is plenty profitable as well.

Also, why are you playing 6 man games instead of full rings? Do you find they are more profitable than doing mutiple full tables?

I play full rings (mostly limit), and I am very comfortable playing these games for a nice profit. From what I've heard from other limit players, there is lots of money to be made at the 6-handed tables if you play them well.

I like to play several games at once, and am most comfortable playing pretty tight. For this reason I have avoided the short-handed tables. I think you need to play more aggressive, and slightly looser to be the most profitable at short-handed games. Having excellent reads is also more important, since there are more opportunities for bluffing, and more bluffs happening by your opponents. When I play multiple tables my reads aren't as good as they could be otherwise.

As far as limit vs. no-limit, this has been debated over and over. Personally I think you can make a good amount of money playing either. Some people are more suited to one or the other, but a solid player can do well at either in the current environment.

What I have found with NL is that it can be a great game depending on where you play it. If you want to learn to play it well then go for it, and decide on your own which you prefer to play. I find that being solid at both will give you the most opportunities to join the juiciest games no matter where you play.

I mostly play 6-handed because of information I've received from others who have switched from 10- to 6-handed. Basically, since I'm playing more hands per hour at a shorthanded table, then if I have an edge, I should be winning more per hour. I have not spent enough time playing 6-handed yet to actually prove that I am better at 6-handed, but so far it has gone fairly well. I find it easier to pick out the poor players at the 6-max tables.

I've also read that a person should play the 6-handed game very similar to the full games, at least when it comes to starting hands. When it gets 5 or less is when you really have to start loosening up. Someone please correct me if this is wrong! Also, if I'm playing two full 6-handed tables, then I am really up against 11 other players, which is only two more than at a full table.

I think I stated in another post that the average pots at the 6-max tables are basically the same size as the pots in the full games. I'm trying to analyze this and figure out what it means, but I'm just not thinking clearly right now. If anyone can give a good analysis of why that would be and what it means, I would greatly appreciate that!
