Charity Event

(I ran this by the mods already)

I am taking part in a charity event next month and I thought I would post something here to drum up some support.

It is called the 2006 Clean Air Challenge and it is a fundraiser for the American Lung Association of Alaska. It is a 2 day event that consists of biking 60 miles from Homer, AK to Talkeetna, AK, and then back the next day (yes, 120 miles in 2 days).

Suffice it to say I am going to spend a great deal of time over the next three weeks trying to get into shape (after spending the better part of the last three years in the library).

In any case, the event suports a whole bunch of programs that do all kinds of quality work. You can read all about the event at the website here

Couple things I want to point out. First is that you make donations directly to the website. So the money goes directly from you to the charity. If there are people who would like to donate, but do not wish to give out a credit card number or some such thing, I can work something out with you (I dont think they take neteller).

In the Gordon/Greenstein mold, I am donating 25% of my winnings for the month of April (whatever they may end up being). I encourage you to consider making a donation (either a % of a weeks play, or a set amount). Like most charities, every dollar counts.

1 very interesting hand, posted in the Other Games section. I folded a rolled set on 4th. I could have either been way up or way down, had I played that, but I am pretty happy with my play overall.

My split aces lost to 6s and 4s.

A74 is not really a hand you want to be getting yourself involved with in 7 Stud 8B. Your high potential is limited as well as facing what is probably a better starting low hand. After you get involved and he apparently hits good on 4th to your pair of 4's it is time to let this one go in my opinion. Your object should nearly always be in there with a hand that has some scooping potential or the only one way low hand against high hands and generally A74 is not that hand.

So I got home from my last day at work and fired up 3 MTTs
a $1 + .10, a $4 + .40 sng and a $10 + 1.

Finished 198th in the 1

Won the $4 180 sng for $216

Was crusing in the $10 mtt (started with 892) with about 14 people left.

I have about 140k, which puts me second in chips. Blinds 600/1200. I look down at kh jh. Raise to 6k in front of me. I call.

Flop comes down ah 10h as.

This is where things really go wrong.
My trillian beeps, which does not suprise me, considering I have been IMing MVP since I made the final 3 on the $4 mtt on the other window (which I just won). I look down and MVP has not said anything. It is Seb wishing me good luck/............

Turn comes 2h. I bet 22k into a 14k pot. Get called.
River is the 2d. I now have the nut flush on a double paired board. Crap.

villan bets 40k. I fold.

My stack went from 3rd to 9th.

I managed to make the ft, before pushing 2s and getting called by 10s. Ugh. Finished 9th.

Still, had a 2215% roi day, when I invested 16someting and ended up with 333 or so.

Now to donk of some money at the 1.50 turbo level. Maybe Ill get MVP to play a couple with me.

Smurf, wanted to drop a quick reply in here.

I lost $900 playin stud on the cryptos, $400 of which was playing 1/2 and 2/4 and $500 of which playing (eherm 1 very bad session at) 3pound/6pound.

At some point after the bar (two weeks) Ill explain the Piers/wtcs theory on agression and stud at the Cryptos. Suffice it to say my play is different elsewhere, but there i think the agression is needed.
