If for whatever reason all sites stopped taking US players, then obviously we wouldnt be playing poker online anymore. Its that simple.

what I don't understand is how the would be able to make the sites, at least the ones that have offshore headquartes , so to say, to oblige to this stupidity
I expect some of them to do the same as the one site that mailed me , but not all of them
does anybody here, with more knowledge of computer networks know if it's possible to block or track people from the US from signing in to some of the sites?
I mean it looks like a violation of some rights to me, but then , I'm not to familiar with the law sistem. These sites do bussiness with people from the US so there has to be something the law can do, but this fkin law is simply stupid , they want to stop online gambling for good, not tax it, not to find some compromise

I agree I can't see it happening. But fuck me, if some of them has already done it, what is preventing others from doing it. US players make up a huge percentage of pokers online....why one earth would Eurobet want to stop US players, if they are losing money....they must have been put under some pressure somewhere along the line!

The only sites that have been affected so far (and by affected I mean either they stopped letting US players play or their CEO was arrested) were sites that take sports bets. Eurobet is a big sports book and for a long time hasnt allowed US players to bet on sports.

Bodog cancelled some conference in Las Veags probably for fear out having people arrested, but they also are a sports book site.

Taking sports bets from the US over the internet much more clearly violates the Wire Act than online poker does which is what makes the distinction between poker sites and poker / sports book sites.

I wouldnt worry about much more than this for the time being.

But to answer your question, yes, if a law ever gets passed that allows the govenement to ban access to gambling sites, there is plenty of software to that make that happen, but I dont think they will need it. I think the sites will follow suit like Eurobet just did and not take US players. There are other smaller sites that have never allowed US players. There are sites that dont allow players from other countries where online poker is illegal (Denmark?, Hungary?).

I do think that even if the law passes (which it wont) someone will challenge the constitutionality of it and the the Supreme Court will have to decide.

If the company isn't based in the US I don't see why they would give a crap? Is the CIA gonna have the COE kidnapped and shipped to Guantanamo if they let Americans play? That only happens if you're black or arabic, so if you're a white guy running a poker site and not planning on going to the US, what's stopping you?
