Hand reading on a Turn (200NL 6max)

Prima 200NL 6max.

Villain in MP raises to 8. He's decent 33/8 TAG. I call in CO with 8[h] 8[d]. SB calling station calls.

Flop ($24) 9[c] 5[d] 2[h]. SB checks because he's a CS without a monster which means by the official CS charter he has to check or else he looses his membership.

Villain checks, and I check.

Turn ($24) J[d] CS checks per law and villain now bets $12.

What does Villain have?
What's my play?

Thats why you fold to a reraise and why he shouldve bet the flop.

Can't really add much to what Ice said. If you bet the flop the hand plays itself. The turn looks like air or a monster, your hand is super vulnerable to free cards so a raise would be good.

I'm surprised so many say to bet the flop with a known CS in the hand.

What do you do when you are called on the flop? You'll be called by at least one 75% of the time.

FWIW, if the pot is limped, I bet there every time.

As played, I thought for sure he had AK/AQ. I raised and he called. River was a brick and we checked it down. He had AQ.

Thats perfect play after the flop, but bet the flop next time so he doesnt hit the A or Q on the turn for free.

I wouldve bet that flop no matter what I had once its checked to me. Raised OR unraised preflop.

If you get called on the flop you don't put any more money in. If the CS calls he's probably has a 9 but won't bet it so you'll get a free showdown, if the preflop raiser calls he's either got 99 or he's being stubborn with AK/AQ. Either way you check behind on the turn and maybe call a bet on the river from the raiser if you think he's bluffing.
