I really didn't want to call the bet on the river. I don't see someone as passive as him betting there with anything that I can beat.

If he was on any kind of draw, he hit a straight or trips. Checks induce bluffs from busted draws, but I can't find one.

I can't see AT or 75 or whatever betting here either. Bleah.

Flop and turn fine.
River looks close because he's passive.
But you must have a read, right?

I'll often check that turn. I'm probably in the minority on that one but here's why.

Best scenario: You have another weaker A trapped. From A2 to AT is 9 hands. From AJ to AK is 3 hands. So 9 of the 12 hands you beat are lower than you. Great. Oh wait, theres a 4,5,6 on the board. Yuck. So now you only beat 6 of the 12best scenario hands. So about a coin flip when its your best scenario.

But, you also have the worst scenario that you are up against 23, 45, 56, sets, etc.

So I'm looking for pot control. I'm checking the turn without a good read.

Like I said earlier...I really hate my river call, just b/c I don't see anything he is calling with on the flop, that I beat on the river. Anywho he had and I was drawing dead after the turn. It would have been nice for the tard knocker to raise me on the turn so I could have dumped it.
