Foxwoods Hand ($1/$2 NL)

Postby Pozzo » Sat Jul 22, 2006 11:45 am

This is the $1/$2 NL game at Foxwoods with a max buy-in of $100. Table is mostly donks, people calling raises with 94o, etc. What do you think is the best action here?

You have $130 and are dealt [Kc] [Kh] in late position. 3 people limp then Villain from MP raises to $18. Villain has you covered. No read on him, but this is a fairly large raise for the table.

Make it $50 to go and put the rest in on a non-ace flop? You'll have $80 left for the flop bet and the pot will be $107. Push instead?

Other options? (I know this might seem like an un-noteworthy scenario but it'll get more interesting when I reveal the flop and how it played out.)

I like your line. If table is super cally I might even push and hope I get a caller.

I guess it partially depends on your image. Barring any information, I actually advocate just pushing it in here. If they're calling hands with 94o, there's a pretty decent chance you'll get looked up by JJ or AQ or something like that.

Your line is just as good - either way.

I haven't played in that game but I would go all-in.

I like a push because there is a decent chance making it $50 might not scare off the limpers. Yeah, it sounds insane, but go play in Lake Tahoe or the Bay Area, California.
I've personally witnessed too many five way flops for a reraise than any person ever should.

$18 doesn't look like a big raise after 3 limpers though to me...it looks close to perfect(although probably if he made it $20+ it's a better move.

This was a hand I observed a friend of mine play. I actually had the stack size wrong, he had $115 not $130, which I think makes an even stronger case just to push preflop.

It played out as flollows:
He min raised to $36 and just the preflop raiser called.
Flop ($77) was something like [9s] [2h] [7s]. Villain checked, Hero bet $40. Villain called.
Turn ($157) [Qc]. Villain checked, Hero bet his remaining $40. Villain thought for awhile and then called.
River ($237) [3s].

Villain had?

AQs is TPTK + NFD on the turn, I don't think villain would have "thought for awhile and then called" he would probably have thrown his stack in the middle, wipped out his willy and started masturbating frantically if he had that.
