About the pot being big and our top priority being winning it... that's generally true... but here you're misapplying it. The concept only matters when there's a chance of being outdrawn. Here he'd have to have JJ+ and hit runner runner quads to beat you. To say the least, giving him a free card here has the best chance of building a bigger pot. You won't even be outdrawn 1% of the time here!

You have top quads here ( ), so there's nothing to worry about. Go into check-call mode on the flop and the turn and then push the river.

Everyone's reply seemed to assume that he bet because he was worried about giving a free card. He bet the flop because he wanted to win a big pot and the best way to do that is to get some money in on the flop. If you think your opponent has an overpair here, then a flop bet might be OK (though I think the preflop re-raise might have scared 99-QQ?).

That said, I think checking is best. Let them catch something or give them a chance to bluff at it.

Yesterday I had the same hand, flopped quads with 1010 on the button. I checked flop, min bet turn. My opponent had K5s and hit a backdoor flush. He check raised me all-in on the river!

Uhm... no. I think it's obvious he isn't betting because he's worried about giving the free card. I figure he bet because he re-raised pre-flop and wanted to make it look like a standard c/b while building a bigger pot.
