$5/$10 OOP (6 max)

Postby iceman5 » Tue Aug 01, 2006 4:03 pm

2 hands from my 1st session after vacation

1) 3 limpers and I raise to $70 in the BB with JJ. UTG is the only caller.

My only read is that I saw him limp with A5 and play a big pot with TP (he rivered a 5).

Pot $165. Flop [Th][4h][3d]. I bet $130 and he calls.
Pot $425. Turn [3c]. I bet $300 and he calls.
Pot $1025. River [9s]. I have $425 left and he has me covered.

Do you check or push all in here? If I check, he might push with a missed draw. I havent been at the table long enough to know if this guy would or not. He might think I have a missed AK and would that I would fold to a push ( which I would of course). On the other hand, he might call a push with AT.

2) No reads here. New guy on button open raises to $30. I reraise to $100 with AQ in the BB and he calls.

Pot $205. Flop QT8 rainbow. I bet $120 and he calls.
Pot $445. Turn 9. I have $530 left and he has about the same. Whats your plan here?

Hand 1
I pretty much push it in here. He called pre-flop, so a drawing hand is a definite possibility. He could have a hand such a 44 that has you beat, but I'm thinking that hand raises the turn. I really don't see what he has here that beats you; most likely a missed flush draw if I had to guess.

Hand 2
His hand is really not defined at all here. He could easily have a JT type hand that called the flop and just hit his straight on the turn. He also could have something like 88 that might only call your re-raise pre-flop. Unfortunately, I think a check is probably the correct move. You can't really bet here without putting in most of your stack. Check and see what happens.

#1) If Im very sure he has a missed draw, pushing is not smart. Betting anything would be dumb.

Hand #1: The only hands I'm afraid of are TT,T9,44,33. Without a read I assume he ddnt call 7xBB with [Ah][3h]. Odds are better he has a missed flush draw or AT maybe even JTs if he's really loose preflop. If he had TT,44,33 he has to reraise before the river with the flush draw on the flop.

I push putting him on busted draw, you only have 2/5th the pot left anyway.

Hand #2: Your playing almost 1/2 stack other than that I'll wait on everyone else's comments on this one.
“The real things to know is that folks will stand to lose more than they will to win. That’s the most important percentage there is. I mean, if they lose, they’re willin’ to lose everything. If they win, they’re usually satisfied to win enough to pay for dinner and a show. The best gamblers know that.” - Pug Pearson

No way I would fold to a push in hand #1.

Be glad your opponents refuse to fold; if they didn't, you just might go broke.

Hand 1 it might be interesting to put in a dork bet of $80-100 that a lot of hands you beat will call and might push thinking they can knock you off whiffed overs. Some hands call the $80 that check behind and fold to a push, like 99. The draws might bluff push to that $80 too. Of course you always call a push whether it's a check or weak lead. Weak lead would be better if you had more behind giving villian more perceived fold equity but he might buy it with your stack.

I either check or weak lead and always call given stack sizes.

Hand 2 is why I don't play with that much $$ on the table.

Hand 1 I'd check call, I'd be most afraid of A3. This is not a spot where I'd feel about losing to a set, and I also wouldn't feel like I lost a lot of value if he checked behind with a pair of tens. If he's semi-competent then I think he'll figure you for a hand that beats tens and fold to your push despite the decent odds of calling.

Hand 2 I think I would check-fold. It's probably weak, but he has a lot of hands here that beat you.
