The Old West and Poker - Big Chip Leaders

Postby WildBillHickok » Tue Mar 29, 2005 4:58 pm

Wild Bill Hickok was one of the top 2 deadliest gunslingers ever...John Wesley Hardin was the 2nd, and bad to the bone...
These two actually met, it is told...both knew the other's reputation and both knew the other was deadly. (they were no. 1 and no. 2 big chip leaders in a NL tournament) It is told that Wild Bill may have had the drop on Hardin and told him to hand over his guns...Hardin SEEMED to be ready to comply and SEEMED to hold out both his guns, butt first, to Marchall HIckok...(beware of people at the poker table appearing to be weak...if someone calls a pot bet by you, you may want to back off, at least preceed with extreme caution)
then Hardin did the ole road Agent's Spin on Hickok...where he twirled his guns and had them pointing right at Wild Bill...they both then backed down and went their separate ways...they were smart. (moral - don't mess with the big chip leader if you're no.2, and vice versa, unless you've got a real killer hand...let the small stacks knock each other out late in a tournament...the small stacks will panic and/or make a move, and you'll quickly move up in the payoffs while just sitting back)...also beware of A's and 8's!
