Hi all!

If anyone can help me out here I would be grateful. I have completed a huge statistical analysis - something over 1.5 trillion simulations and am looking for the best way ... hell I'm looking for ANY way to present it at this point.

I took all 169 starting hands and ran one million simulations against nine players with nine random hands. Then I did the same with a nine handed table (eight opponents), then an eight handed table then... down to heads up.

One of the goals with this project was to show how hand value's change according to number of players. By changing - I mean that some hands have a positive equity heads up - but not 10-handed, while others have a positive equity 10-handed but not heads up. ie: A7 has a negative equity (9.93%) ten handed where it would need 10% equity to break even but has a positive equity (58.78) heads up (where 50% is break even for a random hand). There are also some hands which graph parabolic as one moves from 10-handed to heads up.

One of the difficulties is that one can't simply graph the thing because there would be 169 functions graphed on a single graph and that would be too messy to make heads or tails out of.

I need the equity line in there as well - for instance, 10-handed =10%, 8-handed 12.5% etc. I would like to use this as the x-axis. There is simply so much information that I'm not sure how to incorporate it into a nice neat package. Thoughts?

Thanks,
TUP

What about if you broke it down to groups, say AA-A2, then on the next slide/graph KK-K2 etc... that wayt on each graph theres that specific group of starting hands, not all of them. You can use the equity as the y axis and the # of players as the x axis. just a thought.

If you were asking what kind of program to use, microsoft excel is a program that you can do this with that you probably already have installed on your pc.

kingsalami,

Thanks for the suggestion. I actually am using Excel right now - I'm gonna let your suggestion float around my brain for a while and see what happens to it - thank again

One suggestion is that you just take a smaller selection of hands for each scenario.

Say take: AA, KK, QQ, AKs, AKo for big hands
JJ, 10, 99, AQs for middle hands
87s, 76, 65s for suited connector hands
27, 38, 49 for garbage

For short handed you might add a few more different hands such as your A7 to the mix for a general idea. The bottom line in my opinion is that noone is going to be able to absorb all the information on each hand and each scenario (and for that matter while the total information is perhaps a good thing for purely academic thought the large majority of hands they will never play regardless) but they can get the take home message for a given suite of hands for a particular number of players. Sometimes a small sample of refined info can translate into alot more useful package than an abundance of smaller pieces without order. Just my thoughts.

Hi TUP,
Is this for the book you are working on? Seems I read in a post once that you are writing one. I hope you make it available in some way when you are finished, it sounds great.

Smokin,

Sounds great - now if I could only figure out how to do that... lol

Semperfi,

Yes it is - but also as an appendix in the final class of both my limit and no-limit courses. I'm about to be able to get back to work on the book - it's been on the back burner for almost a month now.

I would make a 3d histogramm graph where :

-x axis represents the first card of your had
-y axis represent the 2nd card
-z axis represent the EV of x/y hand

I would do that graphic 9 time, from HU to 10 handed.

edit : mmm Smoking'all answer is the same sorry
I cried because I had no draw, until I met a man with no pair>>>MVSPORTS
