I'm not giving up yet! I'm a scrapper. I've already ordered the recommended book and will devour it when it arrives. When I get some time in the evening (something is always pulling me one way or another) I want to start running some very structured sessions, maybe an hour at a time, and then analyze and post some data from them. Maybe if I give up women and a social life I can do that! Right now I'm reading some pre-flop and post-flop strategy from pokerlistings.com. It's a little heavy for me at this point but I'm taking it slow. So should I not expect to make a profit, even at low stakes, until 10k hands or more??

Not saying you will or won't make a profit after "x" amount of hands...just saying that poker is a long term game. Some people play a few thousand hands and do extememely well by playing horrible...others do terrible playing great. In the short term there is a lot of luck, both good and bad than can happen.

When it comes to analyzing your play (i.e. your PT stats) 10K hands usually serves as a starting place...and even then it's really not that accurate of a measure when it comes to dollars and cents.

It is very hard to fold aces, but when you're 3-bet again on the turn after the board pairs, I think that is a sign your (now) 2 pair is already beat.
I do not blame you for calling this down after that though, sometimes you just have to see what they called your raise with.

Don't play the numbers. Play the cards. You could have jsut been on a bad run.

There is one number I'd like to understand more, and that is the Big Bet. What does the information for that number mean? Here is what mine currently says:

Big Bets Won Per 100 Hands: (2.00)
