Position short handed

Postby redhouse » Tue Aug 22, 2006 9:36 pm

I know conventional wisdom says you want the unpredictable aggressive players on your right and predictable passive players on your left, but i'm really starting to enjoy having loose passive players on my immediate right.

They're always calling raises from the small blind, giving me great odds from the BB and also discouraging people from stealing with trash. And because people steal less, I get to play more HU hands with position and better odds against the passive SB.

The other big thing is they act as a check of sorts against bluffs (at least from the smarter players). The donks keep firing away of course, but against sensible bluffers, it keeps them honest. Which is a big deal shorhanded.

Thoughts? I'm having trouble weighing these against the obvious benefit of position on a TAG.
