Well about 1/3 of the month has passed and so far things have been going pretty damn good. I've had a couple of bad days mixed in, but overall i'm very pleased with my results. This bet I have with shamdonk has been great for getting me to put hours/hands in. I put in a set of SNGs tonight after my live game and had terrible luck, but managed to limit my losses to about $150. I then fired up eight NL200 cash game tables and made about $1k in maybe an hour and a half. The session started by getting 2-outered on the river, allin on the turn with my set vs his overpair and he hit, and it was just uphill from there. I actually managed to stack that guy to get my money + his money back later with AA vs KK which was great.
My live game wasn't too great tonight. I played the tourney but when a few people started busting, the cash game looked really juicy and they were playing dealers choice, though maybe half the table were mainly holdem players and i knew they'd donk off their money. So i started playing super aggro in the tourney (only $50 buyin) and busted quickly and hopped into the cash. I did stack one of the holdemdonks for about $100 but didn't really have many big hands after that. Oh there was one in pot-limit pineapple hi-lo where i had AA6 vs a decent opponents A35, he made it $10 preflop and i raised to $40 (1/2 blinds), he called and pushed on a K73r flop for about $100. I called, he kept the A5 and missed his low.
I also made the rest of the table basically cream themselves when I laid down the nut flush to a straightflush on a non-paired board in PLO8. I don't think it was particularly hard though given the circumstances. The hand went something like this: We're 7handed and I limp
UTG, UTG + 1 calls as does the CO. The button (a lag/maniac - not great) pots it. We all call, the flop is 4-way. It comes down
and it gets checked to the button, who also checks. Turn is the
and bet $30 (about pot) with the nutflush, UTG+1 calls to my left and the other two fold. River is a brick, I think the
or something and I check. Guy to my left pots it for $100 or so and I fold. This guy was a pretty decent, tight/solid, winning player. He'd check behind with any other flush, or a set, or a straight, so it's either the SF or a total bluff..which i've never seen him do, so yeah. It was fun to have everyone think I was the best player since sliced bread (does that expression work here?) for a while though. I ended the cash game up about $110 though for a small win on the night, though after dinner/travel/snack expenses come in, it was mostly breakeven. I had fun though.

This months NL200 play:
That dip around 9.5k was bad play + bad luck + tilt rolled into one. My winrate over these 12k hands or so has been 5.55ptbb/100. Admittedly i've run quite hot for a lot of it and my luck has been above average (though not insanely, WTSD = 21.70% and W$SD = 52.96%), there were a few bad plays/calls and reckless mistakes that lead me to believe they even each other out - that is, if i had "average" luck but rectified those mistakes and played well consistently (improving my game) then i'd be able to sustain a winrate like this. 8-tabling I think this is pretty impressive. Ok, finally, warcraft and breakfast time!
Poker is silly.
It is not enough to be good at chess, you must also play well.
