Turn was gin but river is _____? (5/10 SH)

Postby shobute » Mon Sep 04, 2006 7:04 pm

UTG+1 minraises 2 calls to me I call in the BB with [5h] [8s].

Flop J67, pot $80.
SB checks, I check, UTG+1 minbets $10, BTN raises to $50.
I have $1k behind and call, thinking UTG+1 is a big fish and will help my odds when he calls.
Also BTN is fairly predictable and will have a decent to big hand here most of the time so I should get action if I hit.
UTG+1 folds.

Turn is an offsuit 4, pot $190.
I lead for $120, BTN calls.

River is an offsuit 7, pot $430.
I lead for $250 planning to fold to a raise.

Thoughts?

I can't put villain on a set because the straight is so concealed so why wouldn't he raise the turn?

Also you've underbet the river so he might raise as a bluff

So I'd call a raise.

Smokin Al is right. I would almost never fold to a raise here. Of course, I wouldve folded preflop.
