Just played a quick 1 hour session of H/L and apparently I don't really have a clue. I thought these were good hands in a no fold game. Note: Opponents in 1st 2 and last 2 hands both played almost every hand they were dealt to the river. I was the only player to PFR the whole session until the last hand.

Made the move to Ace Flush today on the Prima Network for the 50% RB. My 1st encounter with Prima software and saying that it sucks would be an understatement. All kinds of problems, but I did do well. Up 2+ stacks after 238 hands. I stacked 3 fully stacked players...
1- I limp-reraised AA all-in before the flop and some donk in the BB called me w/ god knows what because they don't show you the other players hands on Prima even in the HH after they call an all-in.
2- Player before me PFR 4xBB, I called with [7s][5s], player after re-raised 2.5x the PFR. Original raiser called and since I closed the betting and it wasn't really that much more I called to see a flop of [5d][4c][5c]. I check-raised all-in and got the call from the 2nd raiser who probably had Aces or Kings and stacked him.
3- I open-raised 4x on the Button with QQ. SB obviously thought I was bluffing and pushed. I called and he actually showed his 33.

I lost some back with pocket Aces when 2 Kings hit the flop. Player in front check-called a pot sized bet. We both checked a 10 on the turn and then he pushed the river. I had no previous history to go on vs opponent so I folded. I also lost a half stack when I flopped an OESD + FD w/ [5c][3c] and missed vs an over-pair. I'm pretty happy that I was able to play both of my losses for only half my stack while maximizing my big hands to stack other players.

Still, despite the great day, the software is so unbearable that I'm already looking to leave. I can't stand it. The lobby table numbers and waiting lists are all messed up. I tried to 2 table at one point and couldn't even find another table even though the software kept telling me that there were tables with 8 or 9 players on them and 40 people waiting. Everytime I clicked on a table it came up empty and closed. Ridiculous. The in-game software was just as bad. The displayed bet amounts were incorrect at times and I had problems typing in my bets so I had to use the damn slider all of the time. I almost even considered going back to Party, ugh!

Anyway, final Prima numbers on the day....
238 Hands
23.95 VP$IP
7.14 PFR
0.81 AF (includes PF, I think)
+48.27 BB/100
+$45.95

I was lucky to be dealt some great starting hands today. It may have looked at times like I was bullying the table around, but I had AA-JJ or AK/AQ 15x in a very short time span and I hit with the 75s hand as well as flopped a set w/ pocket 5's. I wish they were all this easy.

PS - Even though it says it updates every 15 minutes, I just checked and they are showing me at 0 raked hands even though I know put money in 21 pots where .25 or more was raked from the pot.

AND YOUR KID IS UGLY TOO!

A word about avatars. Certainly I need to pre-face this by saying that obviously none of this applies to anyone on this site, but I have been able to draw certain stereotype conclusions lately about people with certain avatars at poker tables.

I have noticed that people with avatars of Phil Ivey or Gus Hanson in a cash game are not anything like Phil Ivey or Gus Hanson. They are lunatics and idiots that end up playing any 2 cards and losing their stacks very quickly. The Phil Helmuth avatars seem to play much tighter, but are very easy to steal from. They don't often seem to complain about bad beats, but they always seem to be expecting them.

The absolute worst though is anyone with an avatar of their young child. For the most part they will play any 2 cards for any amount of money as far as they can. If there was another card after the river, they'd call with garbage to see that one too. No not only is it horrible when these people suck out on you, but you have to stare at a picture of their often dopey looking kids while their doing it. It often makes me wonder if the kid is the one playing the hand. (PS - This often applies to people with pet avatars as well.)
Nice hand jackass......and your kid is ugly too!

Ugh!! Played in an MTT late last night and another this afternoon. I went completely card dead late in the tourny last night on table of calling stations as the short stack. Horrible situation to be in. I actually snuck into the money by folding so I got my buy-in back, but I folded 37 straight hands until I picked up [Jh][Jd] in the SB w/ blinds 150/300 (25 antes) and a stack of only 350 left after posting 150+25. MP1 open raises for 900 at a 9 handed table and everyone else folds to me. I push the rest of my chips in the pot and he turns over [Th][Td]. Flop [Ad][Qc][Ts]. Glad I waited 38 hands for that. I'm gone.

Today I was virtually card dead as well. I flopped 2 sets early, but once nobody wanted to play and the other was a set of 9's on a KT9 monotone board with a J on the turn vs 2 opponents. Then with 2025 left and blinds of 60/120 w/ no antes I pick up [Kd][Ks] in the BB. It's folded to the Button who takes a while and then pushes for 3,480. What the F??? But THANK YOU! I insantly call and he turns over [Ad][Kc] and the 1st card to hit the flop is the [Ac]. Good-bye. It was bad enough without the button trash talking on the way out. Such class. He must have been watching ESPN.

HEHEHEHEHEHE. I love what position can do for you vs. tight opponents. This is how poker was meant to be. When I have it, they think I'm stealing and I get paid off. When I don't have it, I steal it. A complete turn around from about a month ago.

Unfortunately there was only 1 FR table running at .10/.20 on Prima tonight, but I can't really complain too much as I pretty much owned the table. They finally fixed the RB situation as well.

Final numbers for the night....
95 Hands
26.32 VP$IP
5.26 PFR
0.73 AF (includes PF, I think)
+65.05 BB/100
+$24.72
Time 1:50

Total Prima Numbers
502 Hands
24.70 VP$IP
5.98 PFR
0.75 AF (includes PF, I think)
+44.04 BB/100 (I know it's only 500 hands, but I'm gonna gloat a little bit about this number. There's no way I expect to keep something like that up though.)
+$88.44
Time 7:10

Had to go to pokercharts.com to find my yearly number because PT can't track everything....
Club +$62 - 1 session Time: 2:30
Online +$231.60- 183 sessions Time: 225:11
Online MTT +$316.77- 145 sessions Time 227:13
Online SNG +161.80- 108 sessions Time 89:05 (This number is a little off because it includes the Party Mini-Steps which I haven't finished off yet.)
Live MTT +$15.01- 16 sessions Time 35:30

Ending on a sad note. We just found out that one of our friend and long-time poster over at the Statfox Foxden forum has just been told he has 4 weeks left to live. There are some things that are more important than poker and football. My prayers are with Shadow9 (Joe) and his family. Shadow has known about and been fighting cancer for the past few months and his attitude has been tremendous the entire time. He's been an inspiration through it all. Joe, I feel priveleged to have known you, even if it was just for a little while.

But- 83o, 93o, 96o, T3o

So go ahead and pick the playable hands. I highlighted my playable ones. With the ATs hand, UTG limped, I raised and got both blinds + the limper to call. Flop came Q-high w/ none of my suit. I c'bet and get min-c/r by BB who shows QQ for the set after I fold.

Last hand A9o in the SB. The dickhead in MP1 had pre-flop pushed the 5 previous hands with a stack over 6000 which had now been cut to 3500 due to being called and losing 2x with blinds of only 40/80 now. He showed KJ and KQ when he was called by AT and A9 losing both times. I guess with only about 600 left since I haven't won a damn hand yet, it was my turn to call in the SB w/ A9o. He had pocket 5's which held up easily. All 5 board cards were below 8. Wonder which tournament God I pissed off.

En Fuego!

Continue to crush the .10/.20 games at Prima. I actually had my 1st losing session, technically, last night while watching the football game. Played for about an hour and lost $1. Today I tried to 3 table for the first time in a long time. I tried to heed the advice I wrote about in an earlier post, but that wasn't happening. The deck was slapping me in the face on 3 different tables. At one point I had a VP$IP over 35% and PFR 10% on each of the 3 tables and I was up on each table as well. This is how I finished on each table today:
VP$IP - PFR - +/-
34.29 - 11.43 - +$5.30
24.49 - 4.08 - (-$.90)
35.63 - 8.05 - +$29.60

So the one table where I played semi-tight was the worst results.

My favorite hands:
1 - Stealing from the other big stack...

- Button $20.80 [Dealer]
- SB $22.95
- PayMeDaMoney $48.10
- UTG $8.50
- UTG+1 $14.50
- MP1 $30.90
- MP2 $14.42
- MP3 $13.77
- CO $45.85

SB posted the small blind - $0.10
PayMeDaMoney posted the big blind - $0.20
** Dealing card to PayMeDaMoney: 7 of Clubs, Ace of Clubs
1 fold, UTG+1 calls $0.20, MP1 calls $0.20, 1 fold, MP3 raises to $0.40, CO calls $.40, 2 folds, PayMeDaMoney calls $.20, UTG+1 calls $.20, MP1 calls $.20

** Dealing the flop: {3c][5d][9c] ($2.10)
4 checks, CO bets $1.60, PayMeDaMoney raises to $4.80, 3 folds, CO calls $3.20

** Dealing the turn: [4h] ($11.70)
PayMeDaMoney bet - $7.80
CO folds
PayMeDaMoney mucks:
PayMeDaMoney wins $19.20 from the main pot

The victorious hand....[Ac][7c]

Dormancy Vig - Respect the Unibomber

In the thread in the low content section about the best player, I replied to a post from Ice saying that I was gaining more and more respect for Phil Laak every time I saw him play. I used to think he was just a big goof. After I saw him go heads against Johnny Chan when Chan won his 10th bracelet, I thought Laak was just a lucky goof. But now he has become one of my favorite players and I think that he might just be a genius. He and girlfriend Jennifer Tilly were on The Circuit last night and he brought up some really great points including what he called "Dormancy Vig". I really have to start listening to that show more often. If you get a chance, check out the 9/17 episode with Laak and Tilly. (Holy crap, I didn't know she was 47! I just read that somewhere.)

The Most Annoying Thing
People who consistantly take forever are pretty annoying. Yet, the most annoying thing is the guy who always types "ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ"
Yes, we know already. Thank you for your contribution. Kinda like the idiot that keeps beeping his horn during a traffic jam. Just what the hell are you trying to accomplish?

Yeah, baby! I just hit a 6 team parlay with the Jacksonville Jags tonight! Too bad I only had $10 on it, but it's still $100 in my pocket.

AND my NY Mets did the inevitable and clinched the NL East tonight. Here's the really cool thing. It was 20 years ago yesterday that I was at Shea Stadium with my father when the Mets clinched against the Cubs. More similarities: The Mets could have clinched in the series before each year on the road, but were swept by a Pennsylvania and were able to clinch at home. It was a total riot in '86 when the fans rushed the field. I will never forget that experience. Anyway, congratulations to the 2006 Mets, but I expect at LEAST a WS appearance this year.
