Booked a nice little 4-table session...I think playing 4 at a time helps me stay a bit more in line, though I still showed a tendancy to get carried away at times.

Hours played...3:05
End result...+$188.50

Certainly a swell enough way to begin the week, but sadly, I was up over 300 on a couple of occasions before I pissed it all away. I was basically Mr. Pay-off during the latter part of the session, and I shudder to think how many bets I threw away paying off with hands I strongly suspected were beaten. It's clearly something I need to work on, and I don't hesitate to say it's my second biggest leak at the moment. My biggest, of course, is a sub-par grasp of spelling and grammar.

I also ploughed through about two thirds of the $150 reload bonus, so I should almost definitely be freeing that up tonight or tomorrow.

I also nearly started a kitchen-fire while boiling some water for my instant coffee. Clearly, my culinary skills leave a bit or two to be desired.

I also have a knack for beginning sentences with the words "I also..."

Now, I'm off to read Johnny Hughes' article on anger management. I got about halfway through it a bit earlier, but then someone drew out on me, I got pissed and kicked my CPU, prompting it to reboot. Ah, the irony!

Har HAR! Fired up another session this evening, albeit a short one...I was gonna play longer, but there is such a thing as priorities. In this case, getting drunk with my scumbag friends was a priority.

Hours played...1:32
End result...+$437

BAM! Puts me up over $600 for the day, which just plain fucking rocks! I was a lot better about getting away from hands than I was earlier, and of course it also helps that I was a ridiculous card-rack.

I'd love to stay and chat, but I gotta get drinking before these fuckin alcy's run through the entire supply.

I actually woke up at 10:30 this morning, but a number of concurrent factors prevented me from booking as many hours as I would've liked. I had a flat-tire to deal with, shopping to do, a run to the bank, an out-of-town friend who was visiting...but most importantly, I woke up after three hours of sleep with the WORST hangover of my life. Took me about 2 hours before I could really do anything at all. Bright side is, I unlocked my empire bonus! FUCK YEAH!

Total hours...2:15
End result...+$367 (217 poker, 150 bonus)

I'm still a bit worried that, despite my excellent results over the past two days, I'm still showing no progress in my effort to plus a few leaks I've identified. It's easy to just sit back and be satisfied with my beautiful results thus far into the week, but I know that once the cards stop nailin me, it's gonna catch up with me if I don't make some adjustments.

Namely, the constant problem of paying off when I shouldn't. In particular, I've noticed that this only becomes a real problem later in the session, regardless of whether I'm stuck or ahead. It's usually sometime in my second hour that I began to lose patience/focus and become mr. pay-off.

I guess an easy solution would be to just stick to playing short sessions...but I think that in the long-run, I'd be much better served developing the mental stamina to be able to bang out 5 or 6 hours without losing my edge. Something to work on, anyway.

Alllllllright, enough of this bloody soul-searching. I'm up 1000 two days into the week, and I am damned happy! WOOOOOOOT, motha-fuckers! However, as a change of pace, I'm not going to celebrate my getting sloppy drunk tonight. Instead, I'll be playing some home-game-style cards with my mates, getting a relatively early bed-time, and going to a $45 multi at some bar tomorrow! Even though I've had some rather mediocre results in my past attempts, it's always a fun time win or lose. In fact, it's actually a bit more fun when I lose early, as it means I can pop off to the bar and begin slamming down Jack Daniels with a Jack Daniels chaser.

Ice,

Friday was always my pay day at my old job, so I decided to keep some stability in my pathetic life by making Friday my cash-out day / start of a new week. But at the beginning of April, I really wanted to make a fresh start, so I started my week on April 1st, which now makes Thursday my cash out day. It's kinda ridiculous, at any rate.

Hey Tighty,

You shouldn't worry overly much about poker as a lifestyle choice; sure, you're bringing absolutely no positivity to the world with your actions, but it could be much, much worse. You could easily have chosen a career as a real estate agent, a lawyer or a politician and carried perturbation and despair in your wake everywhere you go. At least as a poker player, you get to spend other people's money without ripping them off too much. Also, you gotta think of number one first, and do whatever's best for you, providing it doesn't impact detrimentally on other people TOO much. Most jobs don't really bring a grand amount of personal respect and pleasure, and, speaking as someone who does a relatively happy-clappy helpy sorta job (I am a scientist who works on techniques for diagnosing genetic diseases in patients as a direct service for clinicians and medics who treat/counsel said patients) it's not necessarily all it's cracked up to be; believe me, if the job sucks, or in my case goes through periods of tremendous boredom and lack of motivation, no amount of personal pride or satisfaction in the ends will make up for the means being pretty crappy.

No-one will significantly mourn your loss if you'd stayed in the same dead-end job forever; believe me, there's lots of people in the world who are readily capable of pumping gas. You can easily find satisfaction and personal pride in other areas of your life, such as family (OK, so maybe lying to your parents on a consistent basis about your career isn't a good start...), friends, and getting laid by really hot chicks. Or, in your case, I believe your conquests would generally be refered to as "stud-muffins" and "sugar-daddies", but you get the point.

Sorry, I couldn't resist throwing in the token gay jibe. Sue me. Oh that's right, you're not a lawyer. Damn good job. Nice career choice!

If all fails you can always become a contract killer. But not a lawyer. That would truly suck. Piracy is an option too, yarrrrrr.

Basically, what I'm saying is that you can do an awful lot more in life to be proud of than work 9-5 in a job, no matter how worthy. There's gotta be more to life than work, and that's why being able to play online poker for 5 hours a day instead of a "real" job could and should open up a lot of other cool avenues in life. So stop whining!

Hope that "straightened" you out, son, though I realise in your case that ship might've sailed...

Shit, there I go again.... Once more I can only offer my most insincere apologies for that rather obvious sleight on your character.... Sorry, mate!

PS I like your new signature line, ya salty sea-dog.

PPS I found myself rather "grogged" up last night also. Oh well, thanks for the drunken tirade you left on my Yahoo messenger in my absence!!! I'll be sure to return the favour someday soon

Cha-fuck-in'-CHING! As was planned, I hit up the 5-10 tables...I'll let the results speak for themselves. And then I'll flatly contradict that statement by going off for about 5 minutes on why I ROCK!

Hours played...3:40
End result...+$631

Much like my second session yesterday, I was extremely happy with how I played. Managed to drop the marginal hands out of position, played them well in position...did a good job maximizing value and getting away when I was likely beat. Certainly not a mistake-free effort, but nevertheless, it felt DAMNED good!

It also helped that I got 4 AA's and 9 KK's. Also got AK 7 times, and didn't lose once with it! So clearly, the cards were strongly on my side.

Some guy called me an "insecure pedophile" at one point, which really sucked, because I couldn't manage to top that one off the top of my head.

ANYWAY, it's time to beat up on a buncha weak-tight grinders at the ol' BTP H.O.R.S.E. tourny! Happy Monday, wankers!
