Party Bad Beat Jackpot Tables

Postby JJSCOTT2 » Tue Sep 19, 2006 2:32 pm

I seem to remember ATE writing a post about this a very long time ago. Anyway, I believe his point was that even in the face of the higher rake you should still play the bad beat jackpot tables due to A.) even the miniscule probability of getting a piece of a jackpot and B.) the lower quality of players who don't even realize that they are paying a higher rake - makes these tables a +EV move. What do people think about this? Has anyone datamined bad beat tables vs. regular tables to see what the differences in things like average VP$IP are?

My luck is so bad that if I bought a cemetery, people
would stop dying.

Well the math is hard to argue with, but then there is stuff like this.....

Party Poker 2/4 Hold'em (9 handed) from (Format: FlopTurnRiver)

Preflop: Hero is UTG with AImage, KImage.
Hero raises, UTG+1 calls, 1 fold, MP2 3-bets, 3 folds, SB calls, BB calls, Hero caps, UTG+1 calls, MP2 calls, SB calls, BB calls.

Flop: (20 SB) JImage, QImage, TImage (5 players)
SB checks, BB bets, Hero raises, UTG+1 calls, MP2 calls, SB calls, BB calls.

Turn: (15 BB) 8Image (5 players)
SB checks, BB bets, Hero raises, UTG+1 calls, MP2 calls, SB calls, BB calls.

River: (25 BB) 2Image (5 players)
SB bets, BB calls, Hero raises, UTG+1 folds, MP2 folds, SB folds, BB calls.

Final Pot: 30 BB

Results in white below:
BB has 9s Ts (straight, queen high).
Hero has Ad Kh (straight, ace high).
Outcome: Hero wins 30 BB.

SB played 66% of the pots this session! Made the mistake of trying to bluff him once. He would call with any pair or A high, occasionally less if he 'thought' he had you beat. BB is in my DB and his play was typical..I suppose he had a cooler to go along with his lousy position. The rest...who knows? This was the third hand in a row I'd raised...second AKo. I guess the others just didn't believe it. Now, are these guys worse than what you are seeing at other sites? They are pretty typical here at the Monster...prolly doesn't make up for the rake though.
My luck is so bad that if I bought a cemetery, people
would stop dying.
