Well actually I hope everyone here would have folded? I'm posting this hand because I have no Idea how to play pairs at the newbietables, and I did not know what to do with the 99s here too. How would you raise a 55, 77, 88 preflop?
Postflop I guess it's more a "let's-feel-if-he-hit" half-pot raise?

P.S: When you would reopen an account, where would you do it to get small tables and the most bonus? because my partypoker beginners time is over, playing at 25cents tables sounds no problem, but if the balance is 100 dollars... i'm always sweating.

i dont like the raise in ep w just 99 in a full ring game. imho you want to play those 9's for set value. just call, let everyone into the pot. if someone raises behind you, good! now its way easier to stack people when you hit. (obviously only call the raise if the raiser or other in pot have at least 10x the size of the raise in their stacks...) raising with those 9's in ep chases people out of the pot and forces you to play a very mediocre hand oop... you win win a little or loose a lot to find out your beat. by playing for set value you will loose a little when you miss and win a lot when you hit. and yeah i fold to that silly overbet instantly.

So one of you is suggesting to simply call the BB and the other one is suggesting to raise 4xBB + BB bet of every limper. Well, now i'm not more intelligent than before.

Actually the simple BB call is what I was used to do... but there is a little question here concerning this tactic.

Well I just posted what I thought. As I said I am a freshly baken newbie and I'm very certainly not here explaining what everybody has to do. What I'm doing is write what I think could be correct, but actually thought to be a question than a suggestion. What interests me is what you think about my thoughts, whether they're completly wrong, slightly wrong or if you have better suggestions. But please someone help me out here, because I really don't know how to play middle or even low pairs out of position (out of position means in early position?).

Flat call with middle pocket pair in early position:

The odds to hit the set is 1:9 (question: to hit the set in the flop, or with and until the river? What are the odds to hit the set on the flop??)
So i'd call 10 times 25 cents and hit once the set.
Makes me lose 2.5 dollars, which I have now to win with the set.

Lets just imagine i got the 9s and the flop is
4 10 9 rainbow with 3 other players in it.

What would you do, slow play and check or raise? Someone could have a straight draw is the problem, but actually I feel like nobody is gonna call if I bet the pot when I remember that everybody flat called the BB. If there's no 10 in the flop the chances are even worse that someone is gonna call.

Well... I'm in early position, so what now? Raise and make them wet their pants because they think I have the ace with probably better kicker than them? Don't raise and wagger my trips against a flush or a straight?

In both scenarios I see no point that I'm getting my 2.5 dollars, even If i get someone to call me once and they miss their straight I don't think that they'll call again.

The odds that an AQ hits is 1:1 as I think
(again question, whats the odds, that AJ hits something on the flop?)
So the chances that my enemy (if there's only 1) didn't hit on the flop are higher than 50%, which must make me bet if there's no Ace and propably win the pot. If I see the ace the odds are very high that he hit, so I can just check and fold without great loss.
So the difference to the just flat calling already happened, i'm not auto-folding my 9s after the flop.

Because I raised lets say to 5 times the BB according to doctors rule. Only 1player is left in it.
lets imagine again (btw i picked these flops by hazard, someone knows different interesting flops for 9s?)

Personally with 1 player left, i'd check. If he raises i'd call or propably reraise, only the 10 is a bit of a problem here because he may have trips too... what would take my pants off anyways. But I can be pretty sure he tries to bluff me off after he put so much money in preflop.

A little bigger problem here to only check, I don't like risking flush draws. I'd propably bet half the pot or 75% of it. If he had called with a higher pocket pair than me, he'd be shrieked off anyways, even if I slow play, if he didn't hit his set.




What I thought is that a preflop raise is better, but I'm not so sure about this any more because I lost money playing like this... even though I won it back later with pocket Qs hitting the set on the flop with a preflop raise in early position and just checking and calling the raises of AK who hit the A on the turn. I was all in on the river and he called. Well, lucky I'd say
