I was playing on UB - my regular Saturday night private MTT. Nothing big, $3 - 29 started. I'm cruising along - in about 4th or 5th place out of 18 when I get sucked out JJ vs 44. A 4 falls on the river and now I'm hurting. A few hands later, now I'm in 12th place out of 16 when this hand comes up.
(BTW, hand converter not working)

Just how badly did I play this? I'm still steaming - I suppose because it was the same guy that sucked out on me both times. I went from cruising into the final table to busting out 15th. GRRRRRRRRRRR.
I don't know if betting more preflop would have mattered. I normally bet 3XBB but was feeling "in between" - getting short but not so short I go all-in preflop. I guess I wanted to save a few chips and bet 2.5X BB instead. I don't think going all-in would have changed the outcome. Later, on the final table, Villian called an all-in preflop bet with A6 suited so I think he probably would have called any bet of mine.
Would a half to 3/4 pot bet on the flop maybe have saved me if he had come back on me? That would have been 1/2 to 3/4 of my stack. I think I'm in a fold or all-in position here.
I guess I'm just blowing off steam here but any advice would be greatly appreciated.
