Piers plays a great deal looser than he advocates players with less experience than him to do so. If you don't play well after the flop, folding 99 pre flop in EP may very well be the best choice.

Piers' sticky is to outline how a relatively new player can turn a small profit at low limit games. That doesn't mean it's optimum strategy, or that Piers is foolish enough to believe that to be the case.

And yes call the river. But I think I'd prefer betting the river.

I raise 99 most of the time playing LHE from early position, I don't hate calling but alot depends on the table dynamics if it is super loose yeah limp away, if my 4/8 Kill game I play often I limp with 99 from EP as a standard play. Most online games though I raise it up.

Flop, since you didn't raise I think going for a C/R is fine, if that is what you were doing. C/C is not at all good.

As for the river, I check to induce a bluff here against an aggressive player alot, and depending on your opponent this can be a pretty much standard play.
