i went to a casino for the first time today.

first few hours go well. im up about $200. no real tough spots. i go get dinner, take a break, and get seated at a new table. 2 spots to my left is the only talented, tricky player that i found during my whole day there. i have about $300 here, tricky guy covers substantially.

background: i've been card dead for 30 minutes. i've played one hand...raised JJ. in EP....checked A-high flop into a field of 5. flop checked around and i folded to a turn bet from tricky guy. he asks me "queens or jacks?" after i folded. i say 6-3 suited.

onto the hands...hand 1:

1 EP limper. i raise to $10 in MP with [Ah]. tricky guy calls, one of the blinds calls, limper calls.

flop: [9d][8s]
pot: $40

blind checks....limper leads for $25. i make it $60....tricky guy thinks for 2 seconds and shoves. blind folds, limper folds can i call here?




hand #2: same table, same villain, 30 minutes later.

i raise in EP with [Qd] to $10. tricky guy calls. a few other callers.

flop: [8c][5d]
pot: $50

checks to me, i bet $40. tricky guy calls, others fold.

turn:
pot: $130

i check, tricky guy shoves for my remaining $250 or so. can i call here?


hand 3: different table. villain is like 80/40, and a drunken buffoon. im not sure he knows what a kicker is. i raise AA to $12 in EP. he calls, one other caller. i've seen villain put in $100 preflop with pocket 3's, call $50 on the river with king high, etc etc. i have $250 and he covers substantially.

flop: [Jc][7s]
pot: $38

checks to me, i bet $40, villain calls.

turn:
pot: $118

i check, villain shoves. do i call here?

bonus question: villain's friend is also at the table. they're routinely checking hands down (even hands like a strong flush on an unpaired board), and villain repeatedly mentions that he's going to give back whatever he wins from his friend. is this kind of stuff accepted at a B+M cardroom? should i have called the floor?

Live is just so fishy that you can't play it the same way as online...not even close. You'll find the 7x raise getting called in 3 spots...whereas online you'll find an open 6x being folded around regularly. If you're in MP, a limp reraise is out of the question unless the button/CO has been raising EVERY SINGLE POT (very rare). Hand 1's flop is just trash for AA...pretty easy dump here.
