I bet the $300 as a blocking/value bet. The problem was.. when I made the bet i thought had 400+ left behind, and folding to a raise would be fairly easy. However, it was only 270 more now. Remember I've never seen this guy before. i had like 3 hands on him in GT+

This is the problem with the blocking bet on the river - it builds the pot and commits yourself. Check and fold to a push, but call up to 300 - save yourself that 270.

kenny- why not lead turn for $200 or so? i think you still get value from JJ, T-x, you charge QJ, etc etc etc.

and you have a much easier fold when he raises the turn with his set.

I think you got yourself in trouble here by checking the turn OOP. this is 6-max, so his range of hands should be going up here.

I think you need to bet ~$225 on the turn, fold to a raise, and check call the river if he calls. This gives you more of an opportunity to define his hand and figure out if you indeed are still ahead, while still charging hands like QJ a good price.

I run into this problem a lot when i'm playing big pairs OOP against full stacks, a lot of time i just clam up on the turn and hope to keep the pot small, but anyone with any sense will bet here and put me to a test - and if i just smooth call and check the river, if they're bold (or want a call) i'll face a big bet at the river and have no way of telling if i'm ahead in the hand or if i've been drawing slim since the flop.
