In my opinion it can't be a mistake if you get more than half your stack in with AA preflop. If you get a third of your stack in, it's usually a mistake, but > half you can't be too wrong.
What I don't like however is raising from the early seats, no matter what hand you have. Actually, I prefer raising from up front (If I had to) with a low wrap or something so at least my hand is disguised.
I think that if you're new to the game you would do well never to raise in EP. Since the flop really makes your hand and position/information is so very important in this game, you don't really want to build a big pot OOP while giving away information.
