For Those Who Play SC into a Raise (1/2 6max)

Postby T-Rod » Mon Oct 23, 2006 7:32 pm

I don't usually call a big pfr with a SC unless several others do. I just suck playing them at 6max. For those who do, what do you do when,

You call in position a pfr from a typicall, full stacked player with 7[h] 8[h] and the flop is:

1) 8[s] 3[c] 2[c] and he leads full pot.

2) 5[c] 9[h] 2[h] and he leads full pot.

3) 5[c] 6[d] K[h] and he leads full pot.

I find myself facing lots of check/fold type flops. Or if I'm OOP, I lead into the pfr, he calls, I miss the turn, and ck/fold to him.

The other problem is say you call with your FD and hit, does he pay you off as its pretty obvious.

The 1st is almost always a call. The 2nd is about 90/10 raise/call. The third is about 70/30.
Boy, you got me confused with a man who repeats himself.

call, raise 100%, 50/50
Be glad your opponents refuse to fold; if they didn't, you just might go broke.

#3 i beleive is a call. the straight draw is less obvious and if they have a hand will get paid off.

Also many times they will not have a king, and will assume you are calling with one since the board is rainbow. (setting you up for the turn steal.)

first one I don't call usually for the reason's trod just explained, you call and he fires again. I prefer raise (if he flop bet is weak - half pot or less) or fold. I don't hate the call but I don't really like it either

im only calling the first one because im willing to bluff at a [c] turn.

if the turn is not an 8,7, or [c], then i probably fold to a turn bet.

Actually, I feel better calling a raise with a SC HU then in a multiway pot, in spite of the better odds that gives me on the pf call. Reason is that on quite a few flops you figure to be good HU a reasonable amount of time (such as in hand 1), but not multiway. Also there is the danger of being overflushed (rare, but still).
Finally, HU you'll have more chance of stealing the pot.

Hand 1) I call, unless the UTG raisor is unlikely to CBet with overcards. Basically I'm looking for good enough (implied odds) to improve my hand or to bluff a club.
Hand 2) I almost always raise there.
Hand 3) I call, unless stacks are very deep, in which case I may consider raising.
