GAME #448374991: Texas Hold'em NL $0.25/$0.50 Table "TURBO" Rockford (8 max)
Seat 1: Small blind ($40.80 in chips)
Seat 2: Bigblind (is a bigfish)($40.82 in chips)
Seat 6: Villian($29.79 in chips)
Seat 7: CO ($19.72 in chips)
Seat 10: Hero ($45.00 in chips) DEALER

Villian seemed really rocky though I only had about 30 hands on him, hadn't seen him do too much, wasn't too sure how to proceed with this one, I called because he was not all that deep. I dunno if this is an easy fold or not?

*** HOLE CARDS ***
Dealt to Hero[ [Kh] [Jd] ]
2-folds,
Villian: Call $0.50
CO: Call $0.50
Hero: Call $0.50
SB: Call $0.25
BB: Check
*** FLOP *** [ [6h] [2s] [Kc] ]
Checked around to me
Hero: Bet $2.00, 2 folds
Villian: Call $2.00
CO: Call $2.00
*** TURN *** [ [Js] ]
Checked to Hero
Hero: Bet $5.00
Villian: raises Allin $27.29
CO: Folds
Hero: Calls $22.29??

I think it's a pretty easy call.

Villain is UTG, so his range presumably does not include any of the 2 pair hands you beat (K6 K2 J6 J2 62). Only question is whether he would make this play with AK, KQ, and/or some kind of top pair plus flush draw or combo or something weird like [As][Qs], or whether this is a set every time.

Full ring I can see an argument for considering a fold, but 5-handed it looks like an instacall to me. Because you posted it I bet he had 66 or 22, though.

Yeah this really looks setty to me as well. But I have seen players slow play two pair on the flop and push the turn, after getting outdrawn. Being UTG I think a set is more probable (around 80% of the time). Especially a rock! Easy fold.

It added up to AA (for me at least)because of 1)position, 2)played it like he had a huge hand, and 3)pretty much slowplayed it on a limped pot. I expect the minimum raise would occur to this guy if he had a set.

If the board came down anything close to scary, I'd expect this guy to lead out instead of slowplaying that hand, but I've seen this thing alot...which is pretty strange considering I don't play online a whole bunch.

Yeah, I would have put my money in on the flop as well unlikey this guy. He managed to call down the whole time until he was behind, when of course he decided to push his stack in. Standard low NL play IMO...thank God for that.

Rebuy when you are at $45. Getting odds to call raises with small pocket pairs is important, and sometime when you are too short and their raise is too big...you are making a mistake calling. I just top off out of habit nowaday, never letting myself get below $46.

Anyway, people play huge pocket pairs pretty strangely in 5-max, 6-max games sometimes. They want action, and will play it like the nuts no matter what the board...mainly because they can't change their course of action(postflop play is horredous, they can't get away from a hand). While I'm not a fan of slowplaying huge pockets, it has worked a few times on me, especially by shortstacks. I keep a note on each person who gets this 'creative'.

good points guys,

I did call mainly because he wasn't full stacked and there was a chance he had lower 2pair, I also had outs versus a set.

If he had min-raised here instead of pushing would you have changed your strategy? If he min-raised and went all in on the river would you still call?
