I'm not sure about your second assertion. I'm not saying you're wrong, but just that I'm ambivalent about the idea really.
The smaller volume in the pot might balance it out, perhaps.

I play these hands from anywhere really. Stuff like J987 and QT98 I tend to raise late on if there aren't too many limpers. But I play them for a limp in EP and would usually call a raise. Perhaps I'm over-valuing them a little but I won't lose any sleep over it.
