I'm not sure that's necessarily bad (more aggressive than mine anyway). While Kuso's overall average is pretty much in line with a lot of very strong PLO players, I think the extreme positional component is probably more appropriate for O8.

How'd you like my UTG raise with 4456? I felt like it in principle worked perfectly--except for the 1-outer that that one idiot ended up catching...

I'll be interested in hearing some more responses on this one, just to get a feel for what seems to work for experienced players.

i think your point on the position aspect of plo8 is valid (at least at the limits i play).

i think there's a lot less fold equity at plo8 both preflop and on the flop (even in a raised pot). the turn is the usual folding street for draws and marginal made hands (e.g., 2pr). as such, you have to be really careful about building a big pot OOP without really solid values -- biggest leak in most plo8 players, imo.

Yeah it's been a lot of fun. I imagine your swings are a bit smaller than mine, since I lose a lot of stacks on middle set and such junk. The session we played today, I felt I played almost perfectly up until that hand (this hand for the unfortunate of you who missed the carnage)

When UTG flat called my flop raise I stupidly put him on a draw instead of the obvious monster he had (99 + spade draw).

I do think that I would go clinically insane by playing as tight as you do though, but it might probably do my winrate a favor!

To Anders: Yeah, that guy was on the tricky side, and I really don't see how you can play it differently. These players who flat call top set often give me trouble as well if I'm on middle set. The way it's played, I don't see how you can get away from it.

when i say meaningless i dont mean that you can just recklessly play any two/any four any way you want

'optimal' is relative to the game conditions and the players in it. nothing is set in stone. i know players at 6max NLHE that raise 25% preflop and some that raise 7% preflop and both win huge. there are also those with those stats that lose also. there could be a limper to me and ill raise T8o behind him. in a vaccuum like you are looking at things, that would not be optimal. but in the situation id be doing it, its not bad at all.

what im saying is, figure out what situations these are by thinking ahead about what your goal is after the flop with the hand you hold. then, all these percentages become meaningless because in some games you will be raising 30% and some 3%. then it doesnt matter what your pfr% is, because its just a cumulative average for the specific game and skill you have. if you arent able to find, exploit, and outplay weaknesses because of tough opposition, not raising in that game might be better. if you can dominate a table then raising lots is better.

i havent read reubens PLO, only the ciaffone+reuben book, but ive read criticisms how reuben is so loose preflop. well when i read it, im not interested in what cards he has when he plays, im interested in WHY is he playing these cards in this way. ie, what is his reasoning behind raising, reraising, calling, etc. what is the opponents tendencies that he is playing against to determine his play in this situation.
