I believe it is incorrect, to play hands such as 55-JJ even when you are shortstacked with 3+ players covering you in the pot already. The reason for this is that these pair hands significantly decrease in value against a multitude of players. With a chance to quad up, i would prefer, JTs, 56s, 78s, even 910os for generally they function much better with mutilway action. Of course this is not to devalue the strength of these pair hands when they are heads up. With a low M, placing yourself in a situation when you can double up is a great idea as most of the time you are 50/50 to win opposed to the multiway situation where you have lost tons of expected value.
