Right, on second thought, it'd be a bit unfair of me to not report my weekly summary, so here it is.

Total hours...45:28
End result...+$589
Hourly rate...$12.95/hour

Not a very good win-rate at all...but at least the week did end on a good note, after almost reaching the level of total disaster. I played nearly 6 hours prior to my cash-out today, and after the first 3 or 4, I was down about $500. But for a nice change of pace, I did not start throwing things, I didn't put my fist through the wall, didn't slam my mouse, or even utter a single vulgarity (shocking, I know!) Instead, I sat out for about 10 minutes, went for a walk and enjoyed the beautiful weather, and thought a bit about how I was playing. Got back in, and very first hand, I get AA!!! Folded to me in the big blind. :?

Anyway, last night, Piers witnessed me go utterly ballistic after I couldn't handle the suck-outs any longer, and admittedly, my play went to utter shit as a result. But today, I managed to keep myself together, continued to play solidly and with confidence, and by the time I was through, I had gone from $500 down to $200 up for the day. And quite honestly, that $200 feels better than the ~$1100 I managed a couple days ago.

So, anyway, I'm going into next week feeling as good about poker as I ever have, despite my rather mediocre performance this past week. I think after the drubbing I took yesterday, I completely expended my entire supply of "pissed off," so hopefully I've at least learned something about the importance of maintaining composure.

Of course, we'll reevaluate that statement the next time I lose $700 in a single day. :)

I was really hoping to get the week off to a good start...but more importantly, to remain even-keel and focused no matter how things began. I played a bit more than four hours in the wee hours of the morning, and another four this afternoon. Both session wound up very nice, but I'm particularly proud of the early morning session. I spent nearly the entire time either stuck between 100 and 200, or clawing my way back up to slightly ahead, after which a cold run would knock me back down. The whole session was turned into a good one by dint of a hand I posted in the limit section, but what I'm really happy about is all the bets I saved by not playing recklessly. If I had steamed (as I so often have in the past), the massive 32BB pot that ended my session would've just put me around break even, instead of way up.

Anyway, here's the numbers:

Hours played...8:51
End result...+$656.00

Obbviously, I'm very pleased with the way the week's starting! If I manage to get some decent cards and "keep my wits about me," this should make for a very nice end to an up-and-down month. As Mecos pointed out a few posts back, it's equally important that I don't get over-confident. We shall see!

Only played a short session today, to the tune of 2.5ish hours...fortunately, I was in card-rack mode, so those were some perty damned productive hours!

Hours played...2:32
End result...+$487.75

Excellent stuff, I daresay! I'm really hoping to have a great week so that I can give the ol' bankroll a thorough addition. Even though it's a good bit above the 300BB guideline, it's pretty obvious I should strive to have a bit more of a comfort zone, as I'm allegedly a "pro", and the money is NOT easily replaceable. So, basically, I'm planning on sacrificing short-term gains where necessary to ensure I'm not playing at any serious risk of going broke. For example, if I have a "blah" week like last one, I'll cut my salary from 750 down to 500. The long-term plan is to not move up to 10-20 until I have a 10K roll...but even that might be slightly too risky.

Anyhow, I've got two guests to entertain, and a bottle of gin to entertain me! Happy St. Butch's day, all!

Uggggghhhhh, hang-overs suck. I feel like a group of burnt out rockstars are all smashing their guitars/sound equipment on the inner walls of my skull; meanwhile, a brigade of unloved, disillusioned Civil War reenactors are currently doing a bang-up job of replaying Sherman's march in my stomach. Here's hoping the Rebs stop 'em before they reach my esophagus!

I'd like to say that I am never going to mix tangueray gin and NL hold 'em against BtPers again. Though I'll freely admit that the gin probably wasn't really too much of a factor in the way that turned out, lol.

Just a little more on that...the obvious fact that I played like shit during the BtP cash game is frustrating. But what really irks me is that I was stupid/reckless enough to play a game that I'm bad at (NLHE) against people who are about 30-40 times more skilled than me. That was really just tragically dumb on my part.

I think I need a couple days off.

Well, I think I learned my lesson.

Which is why I went RIGHT BACK IN THERE to duel palman, yet again, for the past x hours. I lost a few more hundred to him, which is to be expected...but I must say I've never enjoyed losing money that much in my life!

That f'ing guy is a monster.

Well, I've decided I'm going to take the rest of April off. I wouldn't say I'm burnt out really, but I do think I need a break; after all, I haven't taken a day off since sometime in January...I also feel I just plain need to get my head back together a bit.

It's fairly likely I'll start playing again before May begins, but I'm going to spend at least a couple days relaxing, sucking the marrow out of life, all that shit. For that matter, maybe I'll finally get back to doing some writing...

I should also add that I won't really be checking BtP over the next few days, so any emergency posts requiring my attention will just have to wait. By "emergency posts requiring my attention", of course, I'm referring to any posts about my cheap whore of a sister in the "Anything Goes" section.

Welllllll, as a famous man once said, "The best laid plans of mice and former gas-station attendants oft go awry." Or words to that effect.

Plan was to take the rest of the month off, but I decided to slightly alter that plan. SO, instead, I'm going to play 4 tables of 5-10 for as long as humanly possible. I'd like to at least hit 10 hours. So, that's what I'm doing right now.

On an unrelated note, I'm thinkin it's time to scrap this journal. Reason being, it seems that more and more often, I don't really have anything worth saying. Thanks for reading! :D

Noooooooo, stick with it TightWad!!!! Your journal is THE read of the day.

We may learn to improve our Poker from likes of piersmajestyk & TUP, but with your journal, we learn that.................. our version of going on Tilt is NOTHING compared to yours!

So come on, keep giving us poor suckers who are stuck in a 9-5 job, a laugh every day!
