Monk's analysis (supporting euri's thought) makes a lot of sense to me. Not many folks c/r on UB so I would think you'd get some respect for it. Unless, of course, your opponent is that califarkie twat, in which case he'll call down to the river with some total garbage hand and hit it. That freakin guy is amazing, I have almost 800 hands of him in PTO and his VPIP% is 68! What's more amazing is that over that span he has lost less than I have. At least he left down at the end of the night, and I finished even. Minor consolation, but I'll take what I can get.

BTW, you're right, I almost never raise from the BB. Since I prefer to raise with big 2way hands and limit the field, AA2x where x is another low card is about the only thing I'd be holding to raise from there. UTG or EP is a different story, but I'm not going to push anyone out after they have all limped, so completing your SB when I am the BB is a safe play. Maybe I need to change some of that up.

*BTW, after last night I am finally in the black for A2 hands in April. Scooped 2 guys with a wheel after you left with A244 and a board of 235 helped, but even that one wasn't a 'true' A2 win.

Alright Monk - you check (intending to check-raise), however it is checked around through your 7 opponents. The turn is a jack, putting out a straight possibility and a flush draw. What to do now?

I'm not real fond of the check raise here. Anyone with the gutshot draw will happily check along, or if they decided to semi bluff on the flop, they will happily call your raise (getting in the order of 9-1 or 10-1 on their call at a minimum).

Also, if it is checked around and a low card comes off - now there's no way to thin out the field and take control of the hand.

Sure, one would think that the flop checking around is pretty rare with 7 opponents - but you and I both know that it happens all the time - especially in Omaha Hi/Lo.

Just for the record, I don't necessarily believe there is any one way to play this - but I am trying to come to grips with how others would play it - because my style hasn't seemed to be working lately...

Alright and now for the not-so-dramatic conclusion, I check-called the turn with 2 others and check-raised the river when the case king came...

Definitely. IMO in limit there's hardly ever a hand where you want to raise to force people out; I'd say in LP when you can buy the button, perhaps, but generally when I raise in limit O8 I want as many callers as possible. Stuff like A2xx, perhaps with another wheel card and/or a suited ace, usually gets raised. The hand figures to be a money favourite in a big multiway pot (say, 6 players including you, are in the pot... your hand is almost certainly good for ~20% of the equity at the very least, possibly in the 25-30% range even, which means for every SB you put in preflop you're getting the best part of a SB back in profit, if everyone calls). I think the BB is a better place to raise than EP with hands like A25K suited because you're less likely to force out players fishing in with 2567 etc who would call one small bet and then a raise but not two cold.

I think you play a lot of PLO8 though, where I believe forcing opponents out is a much bigger advantage in a hand, though again, there are a lot of hands in PLO8 that I'm happy to make a small raise on to build a pot. Then again, like you, my yearly stats would suggest that I suck at PLO8 :D

I check raise, because I want to win the pot right now, as I have no low possibility.
In case of a re raise I cap and lead the turn.

if checked around with a J I check and fold to a bet.

anyway this is a though hand to play when you play only for half of the pot
