really thin river call #2 ($100NL 6-max)

Postby ua1176 » Wed Nov 29, 2006 11:13 am

$100NL 6-max @ Tribeca

i raise to $4 with [Ad][9d] in the CO. button calls. he's loose....probably like 35/15/2, if i had to guess. no other callers. i've been at the table for about 30 minutes. villain has just over $50 and i cover.

flop: [Td][9c][3h]
pot: $9

i bet $7. he calls.

turn: [4c]
pot: $23

check. he bets $8 (????) i call.

river: [3s]
pot: $41

i check, he insta-pushes for $34, i think for a few seconds and call.

thoughts?

jon

Looks like a flush draw bluff imo.

the past week or so i've found the games much less donkish than usual. there's still the occasional idiot but its not the flat-out moron-fest that i've come to know and love.

the players are still bad but it's a different kind of bad. i've had a hell of a time getting action lately with big pairs. i'd say 9/10 of the times in the last few days that i raise or reraise with QQ+, everyone folds preflop.

ok no one likes this call. but.....

T-x usually takes a showdown, no?
T9 takes a showdown sometimes with this river, no?
all the draws missed
villain is loose enough to float flops here sometimes
villain almost never has overpair here
villain's turn bet strongly suggests that he's pricing himself in on a draw, or floating (or has the nuts. i admit that possibility.)

that was roughly my thought process
