I was playing $100NL at Stars this morning. There was a maniac raising between $3 and $7 EVERY hand. The avg pot was about $60 (its normally about $15-$20)
I sat there for a long time looking for a big hand to take him on. I finally got KK in the BB. The player just to the maniacs right foiled my big hand by open raising to $8 which made the maniac fold.
This guy had limp reraised all in to $60 with 55 against the maniacand lost when the maniac called with 88. He had limp reraised to about $30 with AA and lost to the maniacs set of 9s.
So when he open raises to $8, theres no telling what he has. I would bet BIG money that he didnt have AA. I flat called which was really dumb.
The flop came Axx. I checked and he bet $11 into the $16 pot and I folded which Im pretty sure was even dumber. He couldve had AK but everyone at the table was limp reraising with all premium hands. He probably had something like 77 and I should nailed him.

Your situation is really tough because you are out of position on the flop. Since the raiser had position on you and the maniac had already folded you probably should have re-raised preflop. Out of position I think you are going to have a lot of trouble playing out this hand, so folding probably isn't a terrible play.

Historically, I have had a very hard time with table like you mention here. I live in Alaska, so midinight my time in 4 AM Eastern. The tables are frequently as you described above that late at night. I had to make myself stop playing past 2 AM Eastern for a while. Recently when I have played at these type of tables I try to play squeaky tight and I tend to give my opponets very little credit for a hand. I have had mixed results of late, but I mostly feel that if they are giving their chips away like this, there must be SOME way to get them. We'll see.

Theres nothing wrong with flat calling kings in this spot. You have to believe you can get his stack on the flop or turn if he is playing that crazy. You took a chance and unforenetly an ace hit. No one will ever know you had kings in that spot...now just wait for another chance to pounce.
