Playing live 1/3 game villian in question starts the hand with $300. He has played just about every hand at the table and to this point has showed very little agression. Different Bad player to my right raises to $10 from the CO. I BB and call with . I call so does 3 other players. 5 players to the flop, Flop is 7 . I check and it checks around. Turn is an off suit 4. I lead $30, Villian calls. River is another 4, I lead $40.

I guess river bet is OK if you think he'll call with A-high or 55 or 89 or what not. I doubt he's gonna raise-bluff being a CS so if he raises you can happily muck.

I like the river bet. As far as the turn bet, I lead out sometimes here if it is the right kind of opponent. If he is capable of a 3bet bluff though, I prolly try to get to showdown as cheap as possible.

The reason I didn't love the river bet in particular was because it's so dependent on the guy being a ridiculous donk - your trying to get paid by someone who will check call down with Ace high on a double-paired board; very few donks will pay you off there (though some will for sure).

Also, why not just check and call a river bet (that will proably be around the same $40)? He's not gonna pay you off with any busted straight or flush-draw (and he probably doesn't have an 8 or he would have bet the flop/raised the turn). If you really expect players out there to be bad enough to call you down with Ace high, than they are just as likely to be bad enough to bluff with Ace high or a busted 9-10.

You'll probably win the same amount (or close to) in the long run and you don't expose yourself to being bluff-raised off it by maybe another 4 or just someone who thinks you're weak.

Additionally, I woudln't have led the turn like a donk.....

Dev I know I'm a donk but I dont think leading that turn card it to terrible, the flop is pretty meaningless and there is a decent enough chance that I actually have the best hand on the turn. This seems like a pretty crappy board to slow play trips or an overpair on unless you flopped eight full or sevens full. I had planned to bet the turn in my head if any no-flush small card hit and the 4 was perfect.

Here is why I disagree with you dev on the river bet. This guy is a calling station so he either has a draw, an 8, or a boat. If he has a draw it doesnt matter either way calling stations dont usually make river bluffs, so I'm not getting anymore money out of him either way. If he has an eight or 66, 55 or AX he possibily pays off $40 into a $100 pot. If he has a full house he is going to raise and I can easily fold the hand, I am not really to afraid of the getting outplayed by another 4, first off he is passive, 2nd off he has no way to know that I dont have a 7 so it is a tough raise. If I check the river and he has a 7 it cost me a minimum of $40 possibly more. So by betting I lose the same amount if he has a 7, dont have to show my hand if he missed a draw, but can possibily get paid off with a couple hands.


Results: I bet $40, he raises all in. I turn over my 4, his eyes instantly flash down to my chips and it becomes the worlds easiest fold.
