Hand 1 : after he calls your flop bet you really have to ask yourself what kind of hand he can have, since the board is not too drawy the only realistic draw he could call your flop with is 76, if it is the case he just hit the str8..., he could have TP or even a set the only hand you beat at this time is someone that float the flop with PP like 99, 77, 66
so i really think you should check behind on the turn and take advantage of your position.
check behind and call a moderate river bet,

Hand 2 : well most people at nl1 or below only reraise preflop with AK JJ+ type of hand since you split with JJ and are behind all the others a fold is the right play. if you call the reraise here you only doing it for set value, your stack size is a bit on the low side to play for set value but people have such a hard time folding oiverpair that i dont really mind here.

Hand 1 I bet at least 12 on the flop and back down if called.

Hand 2. He gave you good odds to chase the set. After a reraise from the BB, I am playing JJ for set value only.

Check behind on the turn and re-evaluate on the river.

He didn't really give you "good" odds to chase a set, it's like 1:12. Not that good. I prefer 1:15 at least. I would say that the fact that you seem unsure about what to do post flop argues for a fold. You should really treat this JJ as you would a hand like 44, no set no bet. A re-raise is usually QQ-AA or AK, if villain is "solid" then it's definetely one of those.

With position and him marked with a big hand you will probably stack him most of the time when you hit, but due to limited implied odds and your own risk of losing more money when you don't hit (of course you will also go broke when he over sets you or draws out) it's not a very positive EV situation you will give up by folding preflop. If he checks the flop he's either got KK or QQ.
