Could I save this buy-in?

Postby DODGYKEN » Sun May 01, 2005 12:18 pm

Had a BAD last day of April and started today off really well - up £85 in 45 minutes. Just lost a buy-in though and I wonder if it could have been avoided.

Interpoker $100 PLO.

I'm in LP with $98 and get As Ac Kh 8d. An EP raises to $3.50, 1 loose caller to me, I call, and the button calls. Blinds are out.

Flop is Ad 2c 3d. The raiser bets pot of $15.50, loose player folds. The player behind me is quite tight and good - don't think he'd be in there with 54. It's also possible that, if he has got 5e, he could fold it if he has no re-draws and I raise.

Anyway, I raised the pot to $62, button folded and EP put me all-in. He had 5432 and I got no help.

Do you think I played this right? I was very doubtful that EP had 54 as he had raised pre-flop - obviously he is trickier than I thought. I suppose I could've just called the flop - but then what do I do if he bets the turn? Folding the flop is the other option, but this seemed weak under the circumstances.

I think given your read you played it OK. Don't want to give free cards to a flush, so calling seems wrong, and I can't see how you can fold this.

Cheers for the reply Monk. I thought I'd played it OK - was just p****d off because of the setback. I've got another hand or two that require your expertise - I'll post them later.
