So long story medium, I played HU for a couple of weeks and got used to making many more "heroic" calls in big pots than is healthy for a 6-max game. Actually I was calling too much in the heads up game too. Anywho, I've been playing really well--except for that little part of folding when I know I'm beat. I even called a couple of pushes when I was on a draw and knew the odds weren't right. Clearly this is a lack of discipline and/or tilt.

Please reply with your method for making tough folds and/or a mental image, saying, or self-flogging method you use to keep up your discipline. If somebody can come up with a method that works for me I will gladly transfer you $50 (net) on Neteller. -Nate

I make a lot of these calls against certain players but lately have always been right. Just think of what you beat and what beats you, then decide which they are more likely to have.

You can't be a winning player without folding the best hand sometimes.

Or give yourself say 2 of these per session. Once you use them and are incorrect twice you can't make them anymore. After that you basically just can't make any marginal calls.

I find myself making to many "marginal" (ie bad) calls sometimes. Happens moreso when im on tilt. I assume you mean on the river. You have to look at pot odds and assuming all you have is a bluff catcher, try to figure out what percentage of the time they could be bluffing. When you think they are not likely to be bluffing fold. Generally, when ppl bet the river strong they either have noting or a really strong hand. Therefore, TP medium kicker is equivalent to second or bottom pair because if they had a worse kicker the villian wouldnt bet. You can only beat a bluff (unless villian is donkey) so look at it that way.

Good point on the river calls. I'm also talking about turn calls that commit me too.
