$1/$2 NL at Prima

UTG limps. I raise to $10 with [Kd]. BB and the limper call

Pot $31. Flop [Qs][6d]. They check to me and I bet $22. BB folds and UTG CRAI to a total of $100.

I have no notes on him but vaguely remember his name and usually that means he did something dumb. This is my 2nd round at the table so I have no idea how hes playing today.

The only hand I'm really afraid of here is KQ. I'm gonna discount 66 here just because most people don't play sets this aggressively, i think fish tend to slowplay them a bit too long, and this is way too aggressive for that (i'm labeling him a fish because of his stack size, i still subscribe to the shortie=fish until proven otherwise mentality)

He could be doing this with a variety of draws, from [Ts] to [6s] to random straight draws.

You're gonna be a dog against some of the bigger draws, and obviously KQ is a really ugly spot.

So now you have to decide, do you think he'll do this with lower kings? how about queens? what about hands like 99? Obviously this isn't an easy decision with no read.

I'm torn here, i really am. My gut is saying to call, but from a math standpoint i'm strating to think it wonder if calling is + or - EV.

Either way, given his stack size and the pot size, it's gotta be right on the borderline between the two. Against any non-two pair K or Q, you're a big favorite, enough of one to make up for all the times he has KQ here. And you're enough of a favorite over random flush or straight hands to make up for the times when he's got a big draw here.


I don't think either calling or folding is bad here, but that's only because I don't know the math well enough to be able to tell you what the epected value is against the wide range of hands he can be making this push with.

I think his range is HUGE here and this is a very easy call. You will see lower kings, queens, underpairs, gutshots, OESDs and FDs as often as you'll see a hand that beats you. You're not behind much (KQ, 66, JTs).

1/2 casino game Wednesday. 6-handed, I make it $10 to go OTB with AQ after I think 2 limpers. 2 callers. Flop comes QT5. Checked to me, I bet $20. Shorty to my immediate right CRAIs for $100. I call. He turns over T5 but I spike an A.

I don't really know whether this is a good call or not, but I think shorties give one a good excuse for making it (and if your game was playing anything like this one, Q6 is obviously in his range).

I didnt think it was all that easy of a call, but because of the flush draw, I called. I thought thats what he had. I was kind of right. He had [6s] and missed.

I dont know how these guys think they can limp 86s UTG and call 10% of their stack preflop OOP and think its profitable, but Im gald they do.

I give the guy credit for check raising all in. I almost folded. If this was HSP, he wouldve just called the flop bet and probably the turn bet as well.
