Just Can't Stay Above Variance

Dear Auntie Bet The Pot

Help me please as I feel like chucking in the game I love. Monday, I play 2 50c/1 tables and grind my $200 BI's up to $600 through what I reckon to be decent play. I take a break then when I go back I loose the lot over the course of an hour in 5 hands.

Each and every one a flush draw with me holding either TPTK, 2P or trips. Doesn't matter if I bet pot, over bet or push all in - on the flop or subsequent streets, I just cannot get players who are drawing to fold, no matter what.

Tuesday I wake up and console myself with the fact I've had actually had a break even session and on another day I would've finished around $800 - $1000 up, just a bad bite from the variance monster.

The rest of the week, each session is mostly break even with a few more flush draws then last night - I have two pair AJ on the flop and the pot is around $30. One player in the hand left with me and in my notes I have him down as a decent ABC player (I'm was sure he would fold TP to me fearing 2p or trips). It's my last orbit of the day so I push all in just to get it over with for around $120. He has me covered and after a while in the tank calls and hits with his gutshot K10!!!!!!

Now I know there can't be such a thing as "flush-mining" and in the end I should be wanting these calls as this is what is going to pay me off. When I have winning sessions, I'm obviously profitting from failed flush draws at times but for the most part it just seems one way traffic against me.

A lot may be down to the room I play, one calling station with no idea of odds can only be a good thing but faced with four or so at a table - is this an unbeatable game?

Any help or advise or anything would be more than welcome because as it stands it just seems like my efforts to play good, winning poker are totally futile.

Yours, Distraught

Your post belong to Low Content.

As for a conctructive thought. Post some hands, ask a friend to sweat your session, etc.

Your post could be made by a winning player who had some varience, or by a losing one who doesn't understand that he loses money (EV) in other places, besides the bad beats. I think that lots of losing players dislike when they get outdrawn, but unlike winning players they just don't notice (don't pay enough attention) to all the -EV situations that they got into, and won.

Cliff questions:
Are you sure that you are winning player?
How many hands did you play?

Ditto on the post some hands... definately will help us asses your skill level, how you play, potentially expose some leaks, etc.

I wouldn't necessary drop a level, but the advice to try a site that supports PT is a sound piece.

Without a doubt, PT is the best tool you could ever get and utilize to help your game, 100%.
