NO SUCH THING AS BURNING OUT

Postby smokiijas » Mon May 02, 2005 6:13 am

in the pass month i have played 285 hours( not true hours) at the 1/2NL bring in $6700 total and also at my casino. If anyone thinks thats alot and that im gonna burn out, i average the same hours of play even since i started playing full-time. So basically i eat poker, sleep poker and breath poker. Poker is a form of competition for a lot of pple including me.

Kenny, i hope its alright for me to post my progress here monthly.

smokiijas

i played about 230 table hours from what i can tell. (I don't have my bodog or UB stats so it's rough estimate..)

I def. can get burned out though..unlike you. Luckily, I've been getting laid a lot lately , which makes putting in those hours a little easier :)

If you don't fold the best hand every once in awhile, you're probably not playing your best poker

May looking great so far
Current mood: tired

Well, so far I own the month of May. I'm glad to see my winning streak continue over from April.

I've played pretty much the whole week at Bodog so far. I took the weekend off as well as Monday. I played 4.5 hours on Tuesday and 3 hours on Monday. stats are as follows:

Tuesday:
4.5 hours
$364.28

Wenesday
3 Hours
$427

So far this month I've been playing a lot shorter sessions. Most of my sessions have been about an hour 1/2. Different from how I use to play 3-4 hours in a row back in the day. It seems easier to put in the hours this way, and I don't lose my concentration as easily. fun.

I had a large suckout today that made me pull in that big $427. The guy sucked out on me on the flop (they tend to do it when i make large reraises preflop and then get pretty much committed) but then I trounced him on the turn. Yum. Here's the hand.

1/2 NL
Opponent has $185. I have him covered.

I'm dealt AA in the SB. My oppponent raises it to $6.50. I reraise it to $30. Opponent thinks for a bit and calls.

FLOP $65
3 T Q rainbow

I bet $52. Opponent reraises allin to about $148. I think about folding..QQ looks really bad here...but figure it's just as likely he's holding KK or AQ. I call. He flips over QQ of course.

Long story short the turn was the ace and i 2 outed the bastard. ahhh..yes. it feels good. :) Anybody here think I should fold those aces on the flop? Maybe reraise a little more preflop?

Overall for the past two days, I felt I've only made one big mistake. I called a $70 all-in and was shown AA. WTG kenny. oh well...i'll try not to make that mistake anymore.

man i hope i can keep this shit up.

Depends on the read on that hand... I'd probably end up calling but wouldn't be surprised to be shown a set.

go kenny
Current mood: awake

Played 3 hours today. My first session was an hour 5 minutes, then the second session was an hour 45. I made one bluff that was stupid...but it only cost me $24..other then that...very happy am I.

Thursday
3 hours
$193

Here's two hands of interest.

1/2 NL

Get AA in the SB. Folded to me. The BB is in his first hand and only starts with $50. I figure what the hell, and raise him $10. He calls with QT of spades.

FLOP $20
579 two spades.
I move all-in. He calls with his flush draw.

TURN $100
5s7s 9c As
The third spade hits and it's my 2 outer ace. damn't.

RIVER $100
5s 7s 9c As 9d

hehe... theres my full house. :) I take it down.

One more:

1/2 NL

Both of us have $200 stacks.

I'm dealt ATo on the button. couple of limpers, I limp as well.

FLOP $10
JQK rainbow

Nice nut flop! SB bets $2. Folded to me. I raise to $10 to try and build the pot. He calls.

TURN $30
J Q K 7 backdoor flush draw

He checks. I bet $25. He calls.

RIVER $80
J Q K 7 9 rainbow

He checks. I bet $50. He calls with JTo. He hit the straight on the river and never bet or raised. grrr. I should have just moved all-in for whatever I had left..probably like $150. Oh well...next time.

These guys suck!! haha.

later fellas.

A new limit
Current mood: accomplished

Well...just for starters...I finished out last week with a $400 pot that I lost to a bad beat. I had 99 on a flop of K99. Got it all-in on the turn...he hit a king on the river for quads...'nuff said. Here are last week's stats:

Cash Games Count : 8
Total Amount : $970.52
Total Hours : 12h 15m
Average per Hour : $79.23
Wins : 7
Losses : 1
Std. Dev. (Amount) : $94.04

As usual..I didn't put enough hours in. Here's to next week! heh.

So I decided this week to play 2/4NL. It wasn't a big decision really. My bankroll can handle it...I want to try it out for a while before I move up for good (which would be in June probably.) So far from what I've seen...they still suck. :)

I played 3 sessions. 2 at my brother's house and 1 at home. Here are the stats for Monday:

Cash Games Count : 3
Total Amount : $539.84
Total Hours : 4h 0m
Average per Hour : $134.96
Wins : 3
Losses : 0
Std. Dev. (Amount) : $135.65

Here's an awesome hand that my opponent screwed up badly. The reason he moved all-in here was because I had been raising the table constantly (and him espeically). My call on the flop may have been a little loose...but the $400 I won made it worthwhile.

I'm dealt 5s6s in LP. Bunch of callers. I limp as well.

FLOP $20
2h 3s 8h

Checked to my opponent who bets $8. I call behind him..I thought about raising again but I wanted to see the turn for some reason. This was probably one of only like 3 calls I made the entire day. Everything else was raise or fold.

TURN $36
2h 3s 8h 4d

I have the nuts! Opponent bets $33. I raise to $120. (I raised this big to look like a bluff and get all his money in the process.) My opponent thinks a bit then moves in everything he has. (He started the hand with $350.)

He shows Q8o and is drawing completely dead.

yay for me!

Poker has been great to me lately.

Tell me I'm not losing it Kennyg, have I read this right?

You had 4[s]5[s], he had Q8o

Flop is 2[h]3[s]8[h]

Turn is 2[h]3[s]8[h]4[d]

So you have the nuts with a pair of 4s?

Is there a typo in there, or is the 2/4 level way beyond my comprehension?
