2/4 Full Ring, do you guys lose less here?

Postby Wolf » Wed Feb 07, 2007 9:36 pm

Hi everyone,

Think I overplayed that hand on the flop. Given the size of the pot I pretty much have to pay the river off.

I like to just complete here PF because of my crappy position, if there was only 1 limper I´d raise here. (thoughts?)

BTN and BB play 30% to 40% of their hands, BB raises 20% preflop, but is passive postflop. CO and MP2 appear to be solid players

How would you play the hand?

Thanks much for your thoughts

YEah not much you can do here- its possible your chopping or Maayybbbee the guys got KQ, and of course theres an offchance hes thinkin hes playin KJ for value there, since there are lots of callers, and hes got position, maybe also tryin to get free card (thats sortof an advanced play for this limit though) Anyways i play the same as you i think, if you cant call with TPTK onna non scary board like that, whatre you gonna callwith? Its annoying, and ii am sure you ran into QT or 55 here, but remember in LHE, if your winning @ showdown even like 55% of the time, your doing pretty damn well.

One thing i sometimes do in situations like this is Checkraise the turn and fold to a threebet...Im willing to lay TPTK to a turn threebet usually, unless i have a damn good read otherwise-- Lots of the other posters here are not a fan of that move, but i like it, for the most part.

MK: guy doesnt appear to have a draw here, but the jam with a draw move is definitely not an advanced move for 2/4. I'm pretty sure most books talk about it and its pretty common (and very useful) in the low stakes donkfests. I know i learnt it off some random website back when i was playing .5/1 .

...That reminds me i'm playing .5/1 again.

I hate poker so much

Mecos,

I don't hate a turn raise here as a way to thin the herd, but it is more expensive def, and you are likely behind. Villain riased the field on the flop, and this is not a draw heavy board so I tend to believe he has the goods.

Id say this is just one of those hands.....maybe we only call the flop raise.

Red: Yeah i know, its not terribly uncommon but i was talkin more about the way the whole thing was in this pot, like mizor didnt take the free river card, instead he fired into a field-- which is prolyl why you said he doesnt look like he has a draw, which i def agree with- but its not terribly uncommon for mizors in limit games (short ones though) at higher levels fire all barrels in these types of spots..maybe 'advanced' was the wrong word for it...Mizorly is more correct, but i figgered id give the new guys a repreive from the dark world of MKisms...

And yeah, we all hate poker....
