BB checks, UTG checks, Hero bets $2.5, BB calls $2.50, UTG folds.

Turn: ($8.10) 6 (2 players)
BB checks, Hero bets $5, BB calls $5.

River: ($18.10) J (2 players)
BB checks, Hero ???

I like a slightly larger pre-flop raise and a slightly bigger turn bet.

As for the river, I see no reason why we shouldn't make a value shove here.

Thanks for the comments Xaston, you think that going all out is a better option than attempting to keep the pot size somewhat under control? On the preflop raise front, I was new at the table an unsure how far I could push these players, so I went for the standard 3BB + 1.

You have the best hand. He'd have raised you on the turn with a set or 34 or 2 pair so getting as much out of him as possible is all the pot size control you need here.
