Preparing...
Soon I'll have to change the title of my journal from Kennyg: Life as an Online Pro to Kennyg: Life as a Vegas Pro. heh.
I haven't played much online poker in the last week ro two. My mind has been elsewhere. I've been selling my things on Ebay, selling my bigger items to friends, planning for the move, hanging out with friends I won't see after I leave, and packing like a madman.
It's an exciting time. I have an incredibly positive vibe about it all. I'm comfortable with my decision and I look forward to the challenge. I think this is a necessary step to my overall progress as a person, not just a card player.
I didn't grab life by the horns in North Carolina, and it's not a mistake I plan on making again.
--------------------------------------------------------
From my only session in the last two weeks:
$300 NL 6-max
I have $750. Manic over-betting opponent has me covered after some bad beats.
I get
[Kd] on the button.
Opponent min raises to $6 from the CO. I raise to $30 and he makes it $100. I sigh as I call the reraise.
FLOP$200
[2s][2c]
Kill me. He leads for $250. Kill me. I decide to call because either I'm dominated or he's drawing to 2 or 3 outs (AK or QQ). I don't want him to throw away QQ to a raise so passivity felt right.
TURN$700
[2s][2c]
He bets the rest.. which is around $400. I sigh and call.
He shows
[Ad] and take 2 1/2 buyins from me on one hand.
Well played sir. I'm ok with the hand because I believe he plays QQ the same way (we had a ton of history.) His manic overbetting paid him off huge in this spot.
